Trump's vision for Gaza bolsters Netanyahu politically, normalises ethnic cleansing, and emboldens Israel to derail the ceasefire and return to war. Here's how 🔗 www.newarab.com/analysis/why...

Reposting this here away from X blergh: My book, Counterterrorism and Colonialism: Everyday Violence in Britain and Egypt, is coming out on 31 March this year! Thanks to all who have supported me. ❤️ www.routledge.com/Counterterro...

So relentless has been Israel’s assault, and so complete the destruction in northern Gaza that a former Israeli defence minister described the military’s actions there as ‘ethnic cleansing’. Here's how the Israeli military erased a town of 200,000 people in Gaza. on.ft.com/3DTS14e

JUST PUBLISHED: It has been the honor of my career to co-author "Queer, HIV+ and Running Out of Medication in Gaza" with Afeef Nessouli @theintercept.com —a story about Palestine, AIDS, genocide, and an extraordinary survivor named E.S. Please read & share. theintercept.com/2025/01/13/i...

Aimé Césaire called this the Imperial Boomerang: Govts develop repressive techniques to control the colonised & eventually deploy the same against their own citizens back home too. “Regardless of who ultimately controls a future government in Damascus, Israel exploited the chaos following Assad’s fall to make sure that Syria does not retain the military capacity to defend itself” — my latest for @theguardian.com | www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

“Israel had “brazenly, continuously and with total impunity … unleashed hell” on the strip’s 2.3 million population, noting that the “atrocity crimes” against Israelis by Hamas on 7 October 2023, which triggered the war, “do not justify genocide”.” www.theguardian.com/world/2024/d...

'Before the leaves fall' - a new project. It's completely different from anything I've done so far. But it had to be that way. Working on these photographs woke me from a kind of deep sleep and aroused in me the desire to create again... after years of stagnation. #photography #nature #ilfordphoto

Delighted to see this now out & open access in EJIS. The article explores what happens when seemingly critical ideas around counterterrorism achieve wider currency. Coauthored with @michaellister.bsky.social, huge thanks to the reviewers & editors. Check it out here: doi.org/10.1017/eis....

Sharing a couple of 2020 Dublin shots for the weekend feed. #photography #Ilford #Hasselblad #blackandwhite

New mapping of Israeli attacks on Beirut. The mapping done by Beirut Urban Lab shows that Beirut's southern suburbs, Dahiya, have been the target of 186 Israeli announced strikes, demolishing at least 262 buildings between 27 September and 17 November 2024. beiruturbanlab.com/en/Details/2...

It's critical to read about this & oppose it. The "terrorism" label is a political weapon for oppressing Palestinians, Muslims, and/or people of color. That's what it was designed for within US legal regimes. There is no way to reform or expand the label that undoes its fundamental colonial nature.

As critical scholars of terrorism, we are deeply concerned about the broad use of "terrorism" as a label to justify collective punishment in #Gaza and #Palestine. Our thoughts are with those affected and mourning at this time.
