I am once again asking indie authors to drop the links to their Itchio storefronts. I avoided the site during my book buying ban and now I'm *way* behind on following people. #booksky

Morning duckies! It was a bit chaotic because we're doing puppy training with all things poultry, and Sadie was very wiggly (not pictured) and Heidi (older dog) was being a PITA, but we have peas!

April 10 is Encourage a Young Writer Day, which struck us as the perfect time for our not-so-young writers to offer some wisdom in a roundtable! We asked “What would you tell young writers to encourage them to keep writing?” Their answers are in today's blog post: duckprintspress.com/2025/04/10/r...

We've got under 5 days to go, and we're almost half way to our main goal (and we hit our baseline goal)! Help spread the word, we'd love to hit this one out of the park!

IT IS LIVE!!! I'm a writer for this project! 100% human made, done by incredibly talented people!

I will not get into it here bc social media is where nuance goes to die. But I think there's room to both be disappointed in Murderbot casting *and* to recognize that nonbinary folks (like me) can look any damn way we want and I wish cis ppl would stop saying we "present" as one thing or another.

This sale goes on for the entire month! I'd love for this to reach it's goal, but even only 50% of my goal already helps a lot with bills!

Me: *trying to make ramen for dinner* Triscuit: TIME TO BE BAD IN THE FRIDGE YESSSSS :D

Disappointed to discover I am not as delighted by Big Man Solve Crimes books as I am by the show

To quote @golikehellmachine.com, "They do not break us, they break upon us."

Sharing with permission - the University of North Carolina's School of Information and Library Science has gone over a YEAR without paying my friends and colleagues for a panel they did on being trans in LIS stephengkrueger.com/2025/04/08/h...

The key to determining whether a particular political action is "worth doing" isn't to argue about theory for 1000 years! Instead, just consult Monkey Logic™️ Would YOU be unsettled by the continued presence of a big mob of other monkeys who all say they hate you? Yes? Then monkey mob worth it!

Learning disabilities made learning to read a struggle, and the school books at my reading level were super boring to a kid whose bedtime stories were Tolkien and L'Engle. My library gave me access to books at my level with stories I actually wanted to read. I wouldn't be who I am without libraries

Wait people don't know Uline is evil? Uline is evil.

I'd love for this to reach at least 50% of the goal, would really help pay the bills XD

😎👍

These people came on my feed the same day I posted on wyrd magic so go buy their stuff. They're Anti-Nazi which we need more of rn #witchsky #pagansky #occultsky #witchmadness

what a lucky cat

Cringe as a concept must die. Earnestness is what connects us as people. That’s why people were drawn to the Booker filibuster, Walz’s weirdo comments, things like Playing for Change (below), funny protest signs, on and on. Cynicism makes people think they’re bonding in snark. They’re not.

do not kill your cringe, but embrace it; kill the part of you that cringes, and be free ✨

Wow, Past Me sure was optimistic about how many spoons Current Me would have today. Gonna try to muster up the energy for some writing after dinner, but everything else will have to wait.

Scam "literary agency" Envision Literary Agency is impersonating Penguin Random House with fake publishing offers, via the email below, using the fake email address [email protected] 🧵1/8

Alt text help for protest pictures: The point is to tell visually impaired, tired, or slow internet having people what the picture is of. So if you say "this is my favorite sign!" and then your alt text doesn't tell us what the sign SAYS, this is not helpful.

“I see protest as a genuine means of encouraging someone to feel the inconsistencies, the horror, of the lives we are living. Social protest is to say that we do not have to live this way." — Audre Lorde

PSA: if you are shocked that today was a great day to bring kids to marches/rallies/protests, to show up in full resist lib attire instead of alt-left tacticool, to take pictures and be joyous and make friends and sign up for stuff? update your priors, sometimes things are great, celebrate that.

Just got an email from a guy whose great grandmother is a big fan of my books. He wanted to know if I’d be doing any events nearby so she could attend? Unfortunately, no, but I offered to zoom with her. We’ll be zooming on Monday. She’s 104 btw. How cool is that?

See any great books, reading, library signs at your #HandsOff rally? We want to see them too!

Please use ALT text on your protest photos. Disabled people are left out of non-disabled activism. Accommodations are not made. Intersectionality does not apply. We aren’t invited to participate. We have to fight for ourselves. Leaving ALT off your images leaves disabled people out yet again.

San Francisco, we see you!

Holy shit. Image is of a VERY large crowd of people stretching many hundreds of feet in every direction visible from at least partway up a long, shallow slope, with skyscrapers in the near distance and mountains in the far distance. This is ginormous for anywhere, but especially Utah.

@indivisible.org estimates millions of Americans were in the streets protesting today. We’re getting closer to being able to strike. 11 million Americans, 3.5% of the population. We’re gonna keep building mutual aid and preparing our communities so we’re ready. This is an excellent start. #HandsOff

This is a good sign. The OP’s alt text was absolute shite. Couldn’t be worse if he’d just written “TEXT”. So, having lost his right to be credited, here’s the image, with proper alt text.

#HandsOff in Amherst MA. Small town and raining, but several hundred people turned out

💙 DC never disappoints. #handsoff

The signs…. #Baltimore #HandOff

Love my city.

Tell me what democracy looks like... THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE. There are something like 66,000 people, total, in Marquette County. But somehow over 3,000 of them turned out for the #HandOff protest today.

Lafayette! My sister's birthplace (though according to Trump, she isn't a citizen because parents weren't naturalized yet) 🙄

I actually am in this picture! great day, lots of lovely volunteers making most things run really smoothly*, thank you all so much *preserving the sight lines for the disability access viewing area, alas, was the one big exception I saw, that was a whiff even with the unfriendly architecture

Today ☺️

19 pages. Over 300 titles. Removed from an American military college. For ADULTS. Future generations will read about this era of censorship in America in history books one day. Assuming books and libraries still exist. What role are you playing in the history our country is writing?

Easy to follow! 😅
