I’m back from a day at the Gigamic HQ in Wimereux. One of the topics we discussed was the many young enthusiasts who, after one or two semi-successes give up their dayjob to become a full time boardgame designer. I am only one for less than one year, since I retired from my job as a teacher.

There is no factory in the US which could produce the boardgames which are now imported from China. Such factories exist in Europe, mostly in Poland and Czech. Their costs are higher than in China, but not that much, in part because they are less labor intensive.

I see many people calling Trump and friends fascists or nazis, and I think it misses the point. Nazis, and even to a lesser extent Italian fascists, had an ideology. Trump and his friends have none, what is happening in the US is pure plutocratic demagogic cronyism, with no theoretical background.
