And in this little Judge Dredd moment from 1985 we find a perfect summary of modern politics.

📣 Indie Fantasy Fund The annual IFF grant application process is opening throughout the month of June, again focused on helping self-published authors create audiobooks narrated by real humans. Share with all your indie friends!

This one panel from a vintage Judge Dredd goes extra hard.

For those who haven't seen: Blood Scouts #3, A WINTER'S MERCY, is coming, just finishing the redraft with another proof to do. I am expanding my beta reading group, and have a form ready together with ARC requests for anyone interested! It's a delightful/grim book. forms.gle/ngiaCdAco9Kr...

If you haven't encountered our leprechaun yet, there's still time! spotlightindie.co.uk/category/rea... With thanks to the creative minds of @damodangerlarkin.bsky.social Derek Power and @fantasticphil.bsky.social The next chapter drops later this week!

There action a-plenty but lots of humour too. Light touches and excitement all the way - this is great writing. @damodangerlarkin.bsky.social Derek Power @fantasticphil.bsky.social

Getting towards the end of my redraft for Blood Scouts #3 and realising part of why I've left it so long between edits. This book packs a punch. Who ever let me write war stories.

Went for a walk on the beach before work and saw a seal so I'm not sure there's much point in me trying to achieve anything better today.

My latest newsletter will be hitting inboxes soon with important Blood Scout news/opportunities and other exciting treats. Check your email. Or sign-up if you haven't.

It's me, interviewing about the wonderful Realm Raiders serial - if you haven't started reading it yet, do so now!

Have you caught up on the latest chapter of Realm Raiders over on Spotlight Indie? Chapter Three, sees our heroes up to their eyes in trouble, when they find themselves challenged by an irate leprechaun and being threatened with porridge. spotlightindie.co.uk/2025/05/15/r...

Guidelines were described as: “fuelling a culture of hostility and suspicion towards abortion and pregnancy loss”. We can see where this is leading…

The Murderbot show is a great adaptation so far.

If you haven't seen the Amazon news, prices for shorter books are being forced up to satisfy their insatiable greed, so if you'd like a copy of THE CITY SCREAMS or OKSY, COME HOME from there, make sure to buy soon. I'll update their prices sometime next week.

Spotted a tremendous new review for Dyer Street Punk Witches on @fantasyfaction.bsky.social - thanks so much to Julia for the kind words! "edgy, original, and packed with magic, rebellion, and grit, with just a hint of glitter" fantasy-faction.com/2025/dyer-st...

A new article on my ELT site today which writers in general may find handy - all about cutting out unnecessary words with consideration for verb phrases: englishlessonsbrighton.co.uk/cutting-word...

Very happy book birthday to Emily Tesh (who is always brilliant)! I'm looking forward to this one.

One of the things I love about the Fast & Furious films, which is very meta, is how it's often assumed that whatever you can see happening in the film, the characters can all also see. Regardless of their location. They even sometimes have access to clips from the films.

every day I'm hustlin hustlin

Ah thanks Julia! And the covers have come out crazy vivid in this image!

Going through my bank statements for my taxes and every time I think I've uncovered a nice juicy expense it turns out it's a bottle of whisky. Writers really ought to be able to claim expenses on whisky.

On customer support chat for my website hosting and they checked if I was asking about a different issue, I said no, so they say okay, give us a sec, and five minutes later they came back to tell me they had checked and that different issue I was not asking about was not a problem.

Most people don't appreciate quite how much investment is increasingly required to advertise a book.

You can know about what books to buy or you can have windows, you can't have both.

Today's top Grammarly suggestion is to change "her behind" to "her hind legs".

Marketing is getting so ridiculous these days 🤣

#SPFBO has a new champion!!! This is the book where I read it once, struggled to write a review, went to skim read it to get notes and ended up re-reading the entire book. Big scores from other teams, too! mark---lawrence.blogspot.com/2024/09/spfb... weatherwaxreport.blog/2024/12/23/s...

THE BIGGEST NEWS! Rob and I are offering up a hand-signed hardback, first edition/first printing copy of Monstrous Regiment straight from the Pratchett archives. Those who know the story will know why it’s a pertinent one for this cause. (More pics to come.) www.32auctions.com/organization...

We've got a new video up over on Spotlight Indie featuring the lovely @liviajelliot.com and our eternally icecream obsessed host with the most (Haagen Daaz) @frasierarmitage.bsky.social

I currently owe two libraries a total of about £14 in reservation fees which, if you know anything about how cheap library services are, is a veritable gluttony of books coming my way.

There's no way enough people have seen this yet.

Trying my hand at some local advertising.
