Feeling less connected being online. Communities feel mediated by entities and paradigms that dilute the human experience. Bsky won't fix the problem. It's resetting and recreating the problem slowly. The greatest part of the current web is finding people that wan't to connect and organize offline.

Boring weekend spent backing up all my Unity projects to multiple disks and a new PC. Something I have been putting off for a long time. It's an extremely slow process but glad I'm done.

Been thinking about time more. Some more concepts I want to play around with in future releases: 1. You can only launch it on specific days/times of the year 2. The experience slowly decays over the time until its unplayable. 3. Narratives that are linked to specific time zones.

I'll be running a 6 week workshop with kizuna collective focused on mindful walking. Sign ups are currently full, but if there's enough future interest I can run another. It'll be a weekly 6 person group, and we'll be doing various creative walking activities across parts of Tokyo.

If you're in the Tokyo area, come out to the gæmz meetup next week!

Picked up some inspiration and reference material for TO:RI at a used book shop. The bird song book contains some beautiful images of birds and a speaker that plays bird calls and songs for each one. Wishlist TO:RI on Steam. store.steampowered.com/app/3215280/...

I've seen a few people play this on their twitch stream which has been fun to watch. Still haven't seen anyone find the true ending. I feel like to create a moments of awe, you have to be okay with most people missing it. There's something magical about that unexpected discovery process.

Art game, alt game, not game, arthouse game. Of these terms to define games with an artistic non-mainstream focus, arthouse games I feel sets the tone and expectations more clearly by borrowing established language from cinema. Would love to go to an 'arthouse arcade' or 'arthouse gameplay theatre'.

Wow. Beautifully written. Thank you! Thoughts like this mean so much.

ocean::ephemera has been released. Please enjoy this short experience. youtu.be/7cdQqmJGsdo

This week I'll be releasing ocean::ephemera. The second in a series of games I call ::ephemera. I will define this genre and the framework I created for them in a blog post. For now, please experience city::ephemera here. infinitetears.itch.io/cityephemera

🔉 Spent this week adding this sequence which I think 0.1 percent of people will see. Everything I make from now on will incorporate time. When you play. How long you play. When you return. How long you stare at something. Time as a variable. Time is an infinite playground for a rare experience.

So many art movements have been born from the chaos, anxiety, and absurdity of the era. Attempts to convey the internal feelings of a world that makes no sense. I believe we're in one of those eras. Looking at games I made since 2020. It's so stark to see the difference in what I made before that.

I strongly believe that solitude is one of the only ways to fulfill deep mental clarity and creativity. Consciousness does not grow when surrounded by countless noise and distraction. I'll be focusing on TO:RI soon and for that I'll need to enter a deep prolonged state of solitude.

Wooh! Was about to pull an all nighter. Time to sleep and recharge 🙏

Solastalgia, which was nominated in the 2024 BLON Film and Game festival, will be getting a Japanese translation of the poem thanks to @nicolith.bsky.social. You can play the English version here farfama.itch.io/solastalgia

Jump scared myself when I opened Unity with my last scene view.

I'll be hosting a GÆMZ meeting this Thursday. For those in the Tokyo area, RSVP here. This year I hope to do more community events outside of just the meetup....gameboy camera photo walk/exhibition anyone? 👀 www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/gmz-meetup...

If everything goes right, I will be releasing ocean::ephemera next week. This is a collaboration with musician Greg Nunn (Glacial Anatomy, Language Instinct) who crafted the music and sound design.

Prototyping a super advanced first person interactive system (ie, move the z of hand sprite when looking at and close to an interactive object)

My daily sleep ritual includes booting up Halo 2/3 and keeping it on the title screen until I fall asleep.

The long road looms. Walk as the sun still blooms in the sky A silent stroll Eternal. Unmarked. Walk past midnight, before dawn The trees tremble And an unearthly serenade stutters to life. In place of the sun, a cosmic being— It beckons. infinitetears.itch.io/i-promise

Notes on my process for judging in the A MAZE selection committee. 1. Carve out time for each game 2. Do not play when in a bad mood 3. Let an experience sink in before starting the next one 4. Try to experience it from multiple perspectives. Research the topics explored 5. Take and share notes

Wrote a small blog post about my choice to make a website with no analytics. farfamahar.github.io/blog/this-we...

My partner and I decided to start our weeks with a shared short game night. Something to look forward to at the start of the week. Our first game was A Memoir Blue. A beautiful experience. youtu.be/2uwLG_-69EQ

I'm slowly in the process of ramping up full development of my game TO:RI. I've ordered the parts for a new PC which will allow for a seamless workflow (Macbook air isn't cutting it anymore). Wishlist the game on Steam! store.steampowered.com/app/3215280/...

Playing around with cover designs for Movements and Modulations standalone release. One of many potential versions. You can play this now in @theziumsociety.itch.io theziumsociety.itch.io/the-zium-exp...
