Did I hear right? Opposition leader Sussan Ley tells ABC she wants Australia to forge a closer relationship with a foreign government administration snatching citizens off the street and deporting them without due process and putting military on the streets to quell subsequent protests?

The US is reviewing #AUKUS! The program is an unaffordable, sovereign sapping and highly risky defence acquisition - a huge blunder of Scott Morrison, embraced by @albomp.bsky.social. Trump will likely demand more $ billions, or else exit. We should pull the plug. #auspol

Remember: Almost all of us are the descendants of immigrants who fled persecution, or were brought to America under duress, or sought better lives for themselves and their descendants. Politicians who stoke fear and hatred over immigration want you to forget this. Do not.

While Trump blusters about "law & order," a reminder that his administration has dropped or halted nearly 150 corporate enforcement actions. And Trump himself has pardoned dozens of his supporters convicted of crimes like money laundering and bribery. The hypocrisy is staggering.

This tiny device can shrink dangerous blood clots. It’s called the ‘milli-spinner’ and its invention was partly an accident…

Boy multimillionaires are good at getting media when they feel sad about government tax policy Imagine if we reported on the feelings of young people who are worried coal and gas expansion will cause catastrophic climate change the way we reported on the crocodile tears of the wealthiest 0.5%…

The 37,000 workers in Australia employed below their level of skills: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-06-11/refugee-workers-occupational-downgrade-report/105398792

"The vast majority of Australians have got less than $200,000 worth of super." "We're having this entire media obsession about a small increase in the amount of tax that will be paid by people with more than 15 times that." @richarddenniss.bsky.social #auspol

Instead of spending $368b on subs we could have: Funded dental care for all Australians, every yr for the next 40 yrs Or built 1,000,000 public homes – ending homelessness and easing rental stress. Or abolished all HECS debt and restored free uni education. Or … theaimn.net/where-does-t...

When @albomp.bsky.social supported a successful censure motion against Scott Morrison on 30 Nov 2022 he closed his speech saying, “He owes an apology to the Australian people for the undermining of democracy.” I wonder what the Prime Minister has to say today. #auspol

That’s the internet won this month!

Oh gawd. It's The Smugening. #Auspol

Important to know: #CovidIsNotOver

ICE is a much greater threat to this country than illegal immigrants. The current administration ia by far the greatest threat this country faces. The problem is not st our borders. It is in the White House.

Superannuation was never meant to be a tax-evasion tool for the mega wealthy. Super is for retirement savings, not a low-tax vehicle for intergenerational wealth inheritance. Everyone is more than welcome to be massively wealthy, they just have to pay their fair share of tax! Simple!

Turned my attention to Tasmanian politics last week. For those interested in what’s happening and some of the back story: www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

At Northland in Preston this morning for an anti-racist action organised by the VS Darebin crew in response to last weekend's night time stunt by neo-Nazis. Sending a message that migrants are welcome in our community, but Nazis definitely aren't. ✊

The worst political abuses, of women, young people, those with less, are so often first trialled in immigration systems. This othering is deadly, and as we saw with Morrison, inevitably worked its way into his broader politics. Refugee justice is everyone’s business.

😂 @firstdogonthemoon.bsky.social “First they came for the people with more than $3 million in superannuation and I said nothing..”

As I predicted, we are now entering an era where we cannot necessarily trust data coming from the federal govt on things like inflation. Something to watch VERY closely for GDP, unemployment, everything. www.wsj.com/economy/cpi-...

MSM is waking up to Defence procurement incompetence but Govt is still asleep. We need radical Defence reform. And former Defence Dept leaders should not review Defence. Dennis Richardson’s (unfinished) review of #AUKUS was a sham before it started. We need a clean sweep. #auspol

Look beyond Trump and Musk's public blowout to the bigger problem: the infiltration of Big Money in our politics. It has corrupted our democracy — creating a vicious cycle that funnels more wealth and power to those at the top while drowning out the needs of regular Americans.

Ahead of Anthony Albanese’s likely first meeting with Donald Trump this month, a US politics expert says ‘begging’ for lower tariffs would be a mistake.

A 3.5% increase in Award wage is a fair decision. People worrying about productivity really need to ask themselves do they think the lowest paid are the cause of low productivity. I mean get real. Also it still sees real awards lower than they were 5 years ago

As a $9 million aged care reform program collapsed into scandal, officials broke procurement rules, accepted undeclared gifts, and buried conflicts of interest, then deleted the evidence, Rick Morton reports.

Government is meant to respond to Senate Committee reports within 3 months of them being tabled. But it’s perhaps no surprise the Govt’s response to a major Senate report on #FOI reform is now long overdue. They don’t like #transparency. We must fix that. FOI sent.🚀 #auspol

The foolish rationale for spending $368B on #AUKUS subs is to support the US in war with China over Taiwan. The US says this could happen in 2027. We won’t get US subs until at least 2032; if ever. AUKUS is strategic folly at every level. But don’t expect anyone to admit that. #auspol

True Blood breakthrough.

According to AP, the typical pay package for S&P 500 CEOs rose to $17M last year — an increase of 9.7%. At half of the companies surveyed, it would take the median worker 192 years to make what the CEO did in one year.  This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

There must be an unequivocal message to the Israeli Government that it end the war, the primary goal of which now is to keep #Netanyahu in power. #auspol #IsraelPalestine

“Rich people don't want to pay more tax… That's the explanation. It's as simple as that.” Labor’s proposed superannuation tax reform have exposed inconsistencies in the progressive agendas of the independents. https://trib.al/rHYUJ88

Today the total profits and labour costs etc for Australian industry sectors for 2023-24 was released. It is quite revealing which sectors get the favourable treatment such as $215bn gift from the govt of free gas to sell....

As the US Navy contemplates buying AIP subs, we should abandon the very high risk $368B #AUKUS program. We should instead buy 20 off-the-shelf AIP subs, built here and enhanced by local industry, for only $30B - with the significant change used to buy other defence needs. 1/2 #auspol

I know there must be a lot of Americans on @bluesky because 'trending' barely covers the rest of the world. I would quite like a 'trending in other places' category, you know? To kinda see what the rest of the world thinks.
