Last Friday, our families went west to Wimbledon where they were wowed by the wonderful 'The PEA and the Princess'! Thanks to #Polkatheatre we now know the truth behind the Princess and her nemesis legume! #refugeeswelcome #londonforkids

We kicked off a busy #halfterm with our friends at Stanley Arts - getting our hands mucky and our minds buzzing with ideas. But it's not over yet, tomorrow we have our first ever trip to Polka Theatre for The Pea & the Princess! #Londonforeveryone #refugeeswelcome

Proud to be one of signatories on this letter (representing @fencesfrontiers.bsky.social ) opposing the decision to bar refugees who arrive by irregular means from citizenship Nothing but performative cruelty @theguardian.com @refugeestogether.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

Stunning Saturday stroll up in the Chess Valley! Braving the cold, our Never Walk Alone group (including some fantastic new volunteers) enjoyed a 9km ramble through the Chiltern Hills from Chorleywood to Chesham. #refugeeswelcome #walkcycleLDN

Seeking sanctuary is an act of love. ❤️ Some families travel together. Some take dangerous journeys alone, in the hope their risk will open safer routes for loved ones. So let’s show some compassion on this day of passion. Show your orange hearts! #RefugeesWelcome #valentinesday

Huge thanks to @laurahallain.bsky.social for supporting Fences & Frontiers by sending our families children's books featured in her exciting new podcast! #worldbookday #nationalstorytellingweek #refugeeswelcome

Barring those who take dangerous routes from British citizenship is nothing but performative cruelty! #refugeeswelcome

The route a person takes to sanctuary has no relationship to the legitimacy of their need. #refugeeswelcome

Big thanks to the @sciencemuseumldn.bsky.social for widening our eyes and minds today! #refugeeswelcome

Just came across this great blog by Taran N. Khan about a 'Never Walk Alone' trip to Kew Gardens organised by @fencesfrontiers.bsky.social, an organisation that supports refugees and asylum seekers. @rbgkew.bsky.social www.runnymedetrust.org/blog/putting...

Massive Fences thanks to Laura Henry-Allain and Nathan Byron for sending signed books for our family group! Receiving gifts like this not only helps the kids feel valued but also helps them gain skills (language, empathy and more) for their future. #refugeeswelcome❤️

More refugees and asylum seekers are benefitting from our activities than ever. While this demand proves the value of our work, the escalating costs are not sustainable. So we're looking for monthly donors to help keep us on the rails ... coastal walk/ woodland path! localgiving.org/donation/fen...

Yesterday, the Government published its #BorderSecurityAsylumAndImmigrationBill "The Rwanda plan is gone for good, along with some of the more draconian and wantonly cruel elements of the Illegal Migration Act. However, this was not the fundamental shift in tide and tone we'd hoped for"

Great to attend the opening of Heritage in Focus at Stanley Arts last night. A few weeks ago, we took part in a photography workshop here, exploring the history of this unique space. This exhibition feature the photos and collages created by our participants. Do visit! #refugeeswelcome

Celebrating #lunarnewyear with Stanley Arts!

We took our annual trip to see Canary Wharf’s #Winterlights on Saturday. From glowing orbs, to singing installations, it was quite the spectacle. But the seagulls swirling like whirlpools above, lit by the lights, stole the show! #refugeeswelcome

Absolutely solidarity with #MuslimHikers. Everyone should be able to enjoy the countryside and benefit from nature without fear.

The Civil Society Group has called on the government to prioritise long-term financial support for charities and their local commissioners as part of its ongoing spending review.

This weekend, we enjoyed a 2-day photography workshop hosted by @stanleyarts.bsky.social ! Here we learned new techniques and explored the Hall's fascinating history. Great to let the creative energy return after our short winter break. #RefugeesWelcome #Art

Last weekend we bid a fond farewell to 2024 with our annual Festive Fiesta at @BelsizeLibrary Whether whipping up cupcakes, dancing, or digging into the feast of falafel & quesadillas, there was something for everyone! #refugeeswelcome

"It’s participants telling us that being part of our group is the first time they’ve felt truly welcomed...It’s those moments of magic when people start dancing together in the woods" Our CEO @lewisgarland.bsky.social spoke to All the Elements about our year of treks and trips! #refugeeswelcome

Happy #Internationalmigrantsday! We’re proud to help refugees rebuild their lives. Through cultural and nature based activities, we provide a community, an escape from day-to-day fears, and real hope for the future! Please consider supporting our work!😀 localgiving.org/donation/fen...

Earlier this year I wrote a piece in Alliance Mag about the mutual benefits of philanthropists supporting grassroots groups like @fencesfrontiers.bsky.social www.alliancemagazine.org/blog/why-sma... With many grant bodies reducing awards, these relationships are key to the survival of smaller orgs

Brilliant that the government has extended the time refugees can stay in asylum accommodation from 28 to 56 days, helping thousands avoid homelessness after receiving refugee status

A day late! Sorry! But it's Day Six of our Advent Calendar and next up is our good friends at Fences & Frontiers - @fencesfrontiers.bsky.social - so give them a follow and click to find out more and support them here giv.today/4f9GASS #LocalgivingAdvent

On Sunday our families had an absolute blast at Stanley Arts - getting creative by decorating gingerbread houses—taking cues from the iconic Stanley Arts’ stained glass, intricate tiles, and even its flowerpot-covered roof! The results? Edible works of art. #refugeeswelcome #Londonforeveryone

We're excited to be working with @stanleyarts.bsky.social this winter, bringing our participants a festive mix of workshops and performances! This Sunday our families were treated to the colourful tale of Prancer the Dancer and his dance powered time machine! #refugeeswelcome #artforall

On #WorldChildrensDay, let’s remember that 41% of refugees worldwide are children. Every child deserves safety, education, and hope. Help us create a world where their dreams know no borders. localgiving.org/donation/fen... #WorldChildrensDay #refugeeswelcome

We had such a great time walking, spotting the graffiti flowers, throwing fallen leaves and just being big kids! Love this group so much!!

Our final ramble of the year saw us back on the Parkland Walk, an old railway line turned nature reserve. It was amazing to have such a big, lively group - swinging on ropes and fighting with leaves! Our walks may be in hibernation but 2024 has plenty more in store! #refugeeswelcome

Looking forward to an autumnal #parklandwalk ramble tomorrow - Finsbury Park to Ally Pally! What a serene way to bring an end to our walking season. If you know or work with any refugees or asylum seekers who'd like to join our community, get in touch! www.fencesandfrontiers.org

We're here to make London and more welcoming, inspiring and supportive place for refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives! #refugeeswelcome
