Schedule change; I'm busy tomorrow night, so I'll be streaming tonight - #Subnautica is back! Tune in at 7pm to watch me not-drown as I try to cure a mysterious alien disease. See you there! twitch.tv/vikingfenharel #WintersPlays #Streaming #SupportSmallStreams #SupportSmallStreamers

been saving this and oh my god. oh my god. so good. one of my favourite online events ever

It's Pride Month! Someone read this all the way through yesterday on KU and I am much impressed. Most people DNF at a certain scene. I do not blame them. Anyway it's Pride Month, I'm queer, these two are husbands. Thankfully I do not have a husband, a serial killer one or otherwise. Happily ace.

saw a post saying we're not gonna see a human land on mars in our lifetime. i mostly agree but wanna sort of point out why. getting to mars: ez. solved. we've done it dozens of times with satellites, rovers and stuff. getting to mars has been solved for 60 years. but:

For all the straight folks saying love is love & you’re valid this Pride month; validate that talk by dropping some money into queer folks online shops, Patreon and ko-fi. 🏳️‍🌈✌🏾 #PrideMonth

Since it's #pride I want to once again share the Asexual Gamedevs/Creatives starter pack I made. More proof that Ace people are awesome and cool and talented. go.bsky.app/GEc6SET

(Except the companies that are always gay, like @nerdykeppie.bsky.social, ofc.)

This morning we drove to Bozeman Pride for @zoandbehold.bsky.social to speak, then went down to Yellowstone and saw incredible sights. Then, on the drive back to Missoula at 1AM, the heavens erupted. Naked eye visible aurora. The northern lights told us Happy Pride :)

So, I think it's time I begin, in detailed specifics, talking about the mess that is Unbound / Boundless as a book publisher, in essence stealing most of a years royalties from me and many other authors, as a result of poor financial decisions, and legal BS. Please read and share this thread.

The latest #Patreon post is an oldie but a goodie - my response to a writing prompt from around 10 years ago! As it's already floating around online in various screenshots, I've kept access to this one free. Enjoy! #BookSky #WritersofBlueSky #ShortStories #Writing www.patreon.com/posts/old-go...

That’s not the rule and you know it.

HOLY SHIT

Sorry I'm late #HorrorWritersChat But, uh, I am hiring! It should be soon. I need someone who knows web design so I can build up a site. I'll also be looking for beta readers hopefully next week. #writing #writinhcommunity

#HorrorWritersChat Thanks Eryn! That trilogy I'm working on is folklore horror, and is being released as I write it on my patreon for just £1 a month. The Prologue chapter was posted on Sunday, and I'd love to hear what you think of it! www.patreon.com/posts/prolog...

#HorrorWritersChat got home in time to do this again, yay! I wear no mask - no, I'm kidding 😂 As a writer of gothic and cosmic horror I'd parallel myself with Frankenstein's creation: a patchwork of parts put together into something new and dreadful to behold. Or something like that

#HorrorWritersChat The most monstrous curses are the small pains made repetitive, endless. My favourite is an Irish one: "May you find the bees but not the honey." I know exactly who I'd pass that particular curse onto, as well!

I go with sentient spaces. I did it already for Black Cat Bookshop, but I'd do it again. Grief is monstrous. The memory lingers like a stain. #HorrorWritersChat

This might be a little too relevant to my current WIP but...I imagine something empty and hollow, with incessant cravings. Transparent limbs, sickening organs, a jaw that can unhinge itself past its perimeter, eyes so pale blue they're almost white. It always arrives unexpectedly. #HorrorWritersChat

This is a one-night event but is viewable on a livestream (or for two weeks after the performance) and is a fundraiser for a UK trans charity.

#HorrorWritersChat this is, more or less, EXACTLY what my trilogy is about - a monster accustomed to being top of the food chain getting to experience grief and helplessness for the first time, and how they cope with these new emotions. They cope so badly there's going to be 3 books about it 😁

I don't know if I have a line about what I REFUSE to write. But I'm not interested in glorifying or fetishizing torture, assault, or generalized cruelty and violence. There's enough of that banal human horribleness in the world already so I don't feel the need to add to it. #HorrorWritersChat

#HorrorWritersChat I'm not sure I have one, to be honest. My book is already turning into a trauma dump. Not FEAR but some topics like certain types of assault I'm not comfortable writing about. I also refuse to "comply with the times" so racism, sexism--my characters handle it. Usually.

Most things aren't off limits for me. I've done child death, although I wouldn't do it again, it was tough to write. I've even done SA, on and off page, both for a man and a woman. I've not killed an animal. And I would never be gratuitous with violence. #HorrorWritersChat

Great question #HorrorWritersChat I’m not sure if there is a fear I wouldn’t write about. There are some I haven’t written yet because they’re very personal and I want to do them justice, but I certainly plan on writing about them!

#HorrorWritersChat I'll never write about sexual assault. Too many of us - me included - live with that fear, that trauma. It has its place in literature, but it's one I don't have the skills to handle, so I don't.

#HorrorWritersChat I'm Fen, wielder of dark fantasy and folkloric horror, flavoured with body horror and the paranormal. I am akin to the Kelpie: unassuming until you get too close, and your curiosity drags you down to be consumed...

You know, I've always found that in communities I was well-known in, being well-known *helped* me to get a job. I wonder what it is about being a Tory MP that's different. Probably just random chance

i couldn't remember the word "polyamorous" and just referred to someone having "free-range partners" and i need to tell someone because no one in the house would appreciate this

#Scientists of BlueSky: do those brain training games actually work when it comes to improving memory and cognition? My memory has been getting worse and worse of late, and this is obviously alarming to me and painful to those around me as I forget important conversations/dates/etc -

Pour one out (or three) for the unholy trinity of horror: Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, and Christopher Lee — all born within two days of each other. Cushing on May 26 (aka Dracula Day!), and both Price and Lee on May 27. Horror royalty, all lined up like it was fate. #mutantfam

The #Oathsworn Prologue is now up on #Patreon, where you can read it (and the rest of the novel as it develops) for as little as £1 a month! If you have any #worldbuilding questions, let me know, and I'll answer them in a blog post 😁 #BookSky #WritersOfBlueSky www.patreon.com/posts/prolog...

Ah, Inis Mon. Good to see you.
