Seven out of nine, not bad! We couldn’t agree with Sean Baker more in his Best Director acceptance speech. youtu.be/JVxVptGNZAA

The great and the good of Hollywood are getting their gladrags on for tonight’s Oscars, and, as is traditional, Our Rod has made some predictions: Film: Anora Director: Brady Corbet Actor: Adrien Brody Actress: Mikey Madison Supporting Actress: Zoe Saldaña Supporting Actor: Kieran Culkin (1/2)

This weekend we wish we were screening the utterly charming Superboys of Malegaon, alongside the rerelease of The Big Lebowski, one of the best by those Coen lads. (That’s just, like, our opinion, man.)

Terribly sad news. www.theguardian.com/film/2025/fe...

Deadlines approaching! Marketing Manager, Programme Manager and Finance Manager all close tomorrow, Cinema Manager closes on Friday. Get those applications in! filmhouse.org.uk/jobs

Good luck to the marvellous Glasgow Film Festival, starting tonight and with Filmhouse alumnus Allison Gardner at the helm for the final time! www.glasgowfilm.org/glasgow-film...

Today we’re wishing our doors were open, offering shelter from the storm, hot chocolate, and films – new release I’m Still Here (which our Rod describes as ‘old school classic Filmhouse fare’), and the 50th anniversary restoration of Peter Weir’s beautifully unsettling Picnic at Hanging Rock.

We had a question earlier about whether we’d be keeping our cinema one red velvet curtains. We love ours as much as Mr Lynch loved his, so the answer’s yes!

Cinema one this afternoon, ready to be transformed! 😀

Time for another job! Come and be our Finance Officer! filmhouse.org.uk/finance-offi...

The new releases we wish we were screening this weekend are bittersweet animation Memoir of a Snail, tender and heartbreaking drama To a Land Unknown, and the 80th anniversary release of the sublime Brief Encounter. The builders have started work. It won’t be too much longer. ❤️

Both the clearout and the jobs bonanza continue! Could you be our new Cinema Manager? filmhouse.org.uk/cinema-manager

Cinema three may have no seats, but we do have JOBS JOBS JOBS! Finance Manager, Programme Manager and Marketing Manager roles all live now: filmhouse.org.uk/jobs

We’ve been trying to think of a more romantic Valentine’s Day gift than dedicating one of our new seats to your film-loving love, but we can’t come up with anything... (Cheaper options also available – get their name (real or pet!) displayed on our website for only £25!) (1/2)

Huge thanks to our lovely gang of volunteers for their help in clearing out more parts of the building yesterday. Stars, the lot of them. 🙌

The new releases we wish we were screening this weekend are timely Iranian drama The Seed of the Sacred Fig, and the 50th anniversary restoration of Chantal Akerman’s sublime Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du commerce, 1080 Bruxelles.

Sorting through some mess and found some old @filmhouseedinburgh.bsky.social ticket stubs. Can't wait to get more when it reopens.

News! We’re delighted to have such an experienced addition to the team. www.screendaily.com/news/edinbur...

I wish you were too! I ❤️ The Apartment. Can't wait to be back at the Filmhouse!

The new releases we wish we were screening this weekend are Mike Leigh’s brilliant Hard Truths alongside two returning classics – Before Sunrise and The Apartment. P.S. If you’ve just been paid and are feeling flush, our crowdfunder is still running! www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/filmhouse-...

We’re absolutely delighted to have been awarded Multi-Year Funding, which demonstrates the belief that Creative Scotland and Screen Scotland have in the viability and future of a re-opened Filmhouse. www.creativescotland.com/news-stories...

The Prince Charles Cinema in London may need some inspiration from @filmhouseedinburgh.bsky.social Edinburgh and @belmontcinema.bsky.social Aberdeen to fend off closure and campaign to survive. Wishing all these cinemas all the best for the future!

Closing date this Friday!

This weekend we wish (so much!) we were screening Brady Corbet’s extraordinary, monumental epic The Brutalist on 70mm in cinema one. (Though actually, given this weather, we’d most likely be closed today – stay safe, folks!)

This weekend we wish we were screening sublime and visually stunning drama Vermiglio, and excellent Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. (We know the latter will be on everywhere, but it’s very good and we know lots of you would want to see it at Filmhouse rather than elsewhere, so we’d show it!)

What a great night out! We’ll be back soon, for more of the same.

If you're mouring #DavidLynch and want to hear some of his thoughts, here's a coversation I did with him. Sharks, smoking and the eye of the duck Loved him www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIlm...

Oh, this is heartbreaking news. www.theguardian.com/film/2025/ja...

Important new survey launched by Scottish Government: "seeking views on how culture & the arts are currently supported in Scotland & areas for change.” Scotland's screen sector needs to engage in this process as it's about Screen Scotland & Creative Scotland... forms.office.com/pages/respon...

We’re looking for several experienced and knowledgeable people to join our Board of Trustees. If you have time to spare and would like to be involved in shaping the future of Filmhouse, click on the link for more information! filmhouse.org.uk/board-1

This is an AMAZING job for someone.

There’s nothing better than a wintry Sunday spent at the cinema. Today we wish we could invite you to see bleak but brilliant Danish drama The Girl With the Needle, and charming buddy movie A Real Pain. Maybe as a rather odd double bill, in that order. And a hot chocolate between screenings. Lovely.

Great to see Filmhouse building a team again! Excited to see what they've got planned for reopening
