Proof of life in '25.

Leadership is doubling down, but GOP members are getting nervous about the budget’s extreme unpopularity. You can call your Representative now at 202-224-3121.

At Trump’s behest, Republicans are fielding Medicaid cuts in the range of hundreds of billions of dollars. The change in income limits that determine eligibility, which already vary by state, could place millions at risk of losing health care.

INT. EDITING ROOM SCORSESE: “You know what would be a great song for this montage?” SCHOONMAKER: “If you say ‘Gimme Shelter,’ I’m gonna rip your eyebrows off.”

Some thoughts on MULHOLLAND DR.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

That thing when you find an early '80s childhood photo of yourself that you clearly staged with your stuffed animals after you saw E.T. (I was always a little weirdo, lol.)

A good place to start w/ that email is "I didn't dance around w/ a chainsaw, mumble incoherently w/out the ability to finish a complete sentence, mistakenly fire a bunch of ppl I immediately had to rehire, prevent veterans from getting healthcare, & make it harder for disabled kids to go to school."

Feb 22nd was the 100th birthday of #RobertAltman. Here's a look back at my review of THE PLAYER ! Special guest @filmintuition.bsky.social ! youtu.be/IFTsDJQRmq8

"I'm in athletics." "We come here every spring." "A guy on my team..." Welcome to Spring Training in Scottsdale where dudes who are obv ballplayers really want you to ask if they're ball players! This year it only took 5 days to get the first. I did not ask. Frustrated; he finally just told me, lol

Throwback to a *very* different Washington D.C. in 1997 c/o that time I wrote my own version of BODY HEAT at 15 (yeah, I was odd, lol) & was invited to read an excerpt of it in the Library of Congress.

A James Bond TV show for a streaming service in 2025 is gonna be insufferable. Just 10 episodes of a guy that doesn't call himself either James Bond or 007 yet and then in the final episode, he orders a martini, shaken not stirred, and we all politely clap and Season 2 takes 5 years to come out

Hi, it's me, the woman who was asked to write about anything she wanted for 1 of her fave sites, looked around at the horror of 2025, & thought that what the world really needs right now is Sam Shepard being sweet... so I just turned in a short little piece about BABY BOOM. Coming soon.

Siskel: Well, it made me laugh an awful lot. Ebert: Well, I'm happy for you, Gene. Doing some research & was delighted to watch a clip from Siskel & Ebert where even though they agreed that a film deserved two thumbs up, Ebert just couldn't resist starting a little static, lol.

I got called "the beautiful bookstore girl" by a couple so thrilled we carried a book by their daughter's friend that they insisted I pose in the background of a photo they snapped. It's not quite "Dorothy Malone in THE BIG SLEEP" (which is obviously the goal, lol) but it was funny & sweet.

If you're privileged enough that you're saying things like you feel nothing about ppl about to lose Medicaid bc you're assuming most are M*ga & are getting what they deserve, your lack of empathy for your fellow man is a big reason why we're here. Oh, & I'm 1 of millions of progressives on Medicaid.

I read this poem for the first time today (it opens the author's book IMPERIAL LIQUOR) & have not stopped thinking about the power of those last lines. I've read it out loud to multiple people since. Genius... evocative, visceral, captivating - the perfect number of beats - & so damn cool.

Thoughts on SWINGERS in 2025. You'll hear us discuss it soon on the LA Movies episode(s) of #WatchWithJen pod.

Remember that Mitch McConnell's blueprint for our hellscape started with the GOP taking over vacant and uncontested local offices. School boards, city councils, and others are the hidden battlegrounds of our culture. This is why Run For Something is so powerful and important.

Live shot of Blake deciding that Rob Belushi & I are covering the De Niro French hooker scandal on his upcoming RONIN pod, lol. Get psyched. @oneblakeminute.bsky.social @robbelushi.bsky.social

I was hired to write "anything I want" for a dream outlet. This is dangerous. I had free rein at DVD Netflix & once wrote about Elias Koteas giving an erotic neck massage in TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. This time, my muse is Sam Shepard in the last film of his anyone would expect a think piece on.

There's something super romantic about phone booths in cinema... they're vulnerable, they're honest, they pin you & your emotions in place, there's a time crunch to encourage you to have the guts to cut through the bullshit, they're bittersweet & they can lift & devastate you fast as in MIRACLE MILE

V-Day pressure starts young, esp. for girls, & the best way to celebrate the day is by making sure kids feel confident that you have their back & they're loved. Every free e-card you send a kid at LA Children's Hospital by 2/14 earns a $2 anonymous donation! secure1.chla.org/site/SPageNa...

You never know what you're going to do @ Poisoned Pen; 1 min you're talking about Duvall in TENDER MERCIES w/ a legendary rocker & the next, you're recording a funny video w/ Edgar nominated author Isabella Maldonado where you wore her out by asking her to sign so many books. It's a special place!

See here's how to do a headline. fortune.com/2025/02/13/e...

I fully intend to get to the bottom of each and every Pink Panther series continuity issue in this episode.

Let's make some (good) news! Here's a sneak preview of some of the amazing guests & episodes you'll hear when @watchwithjen.bsky.social returns for Season 6 in March.

A coworker in the process of downsizing his rare book collection gifted me these incredible film studies texts. I'm super excited to read the Sarris book, which is the first edition from 1967!

Thrilled to receive an arc for @christafaust.bsky.social's brand new novel THE GET OFF, which is the final book in her Angel Dare trilogy. I'll be interviewing Christa alongside Patrick Millikin @poisonedpenbooks.bsky.social on April 2nd @ 7pm. Our conversation will be livestreamed so you can watch!
