I enjoyed this manga from Tuttle, but now I need to read the full novel. I can tell there’s so much more to enjoy!

Reminder that my horror crit @gnofhorror.com... tinyurl.com/5cyf7x5v can be voted for BSFA Best Non-Fiction here: tinyurl.com/yc58j29u So, let's talk horror! What's your unpopular horror movie opinion? I've got one: I prefer the SUSPIRIA remake to the original.

For reasons, a coworker and I are escalating goblin art that we send after each other.

It feels very weird to get a letter asking for donations to the hospital when I’m still paying off my bill from one overnight stay over a year ago…

pssstttt @summerscares.bsky.social 2025 lineup is announced on Friday.

Ooh, time to choose Hugo Award nominations! 😍 This is going to be tough, though I never read as many short stories (and novelettes... that's a weird size) as I mean to... Any eligible recommendations you think I should get to ASAP?

I loved how the premise of this nonfiction book is that while many historians like to cherry pick One Special Woman who fought against society’s barriers, pretty much all women did so within their spheres. And, in this case, there was so much politicking amongst the ladies in the waiting. #booksky

Tonight’s cooking experiment — “Non Naan Flatbread and Chili Sawse” from the upcoming Choi of Cooking. So tasty!

Just had a review copy for @badhandbooks.bsky.social SILK & SINEW show up in my inbox. The subtitle is "A Collection of Folk Horror From the Asian Diaspora" and is there any anthology I needed more in my life?! I am so excited to see what horrors my community is offering. 😈 #ewgc

Also in the midst of Tchaikovsky's SHROUD and that man has such skill for creating aliens... and dangerous planet stories are typically my favorite sci-fi subgenre. #ewgc

Really enjoying the stories in Farrenkopf's HAUNTED ECOLOGIES. Much of my favorite horror plays out there in nature and several of the stories (so far) have a melancholic air that's really appealing to me these days. I'll have more to say when I finish the rest of them. 😁 #ewgc

Finally got to Stephanie Burgis' WOOING THE WITCH QUEEN and I'm so glad I did. This gave me sort of comfortable fantasy vibes that reminded me of the 90s stories, but with modern sensibilities. Clever, funny, and definitely leaves you ready for the next evil queen's book! #ewgc

WHEN THE TIDES HELD THE MOON by Venessa Vida Kelley has gorgeous illustrations and a beautiful found family amongst carnival sideshow acts to go along with the Shape of Water-esque romance between a man and a merman. #ewgc

I second this -- every story was great!

ISABELLA NAGG & THE POT OF BASIL by Oliver Darkshire is humorous fantasy done right. Plus it has funny footnotes - a particular love of mine - and annotated arguments on encyclopedic entries, as Isabella rises from dreariness through the power of reading (and magic) + mangy cat-thing advice. #ewgc

TEA YOU AT THE ALTAR is Thorne's third entry in her Tomes and Tea sapphic romantic cozy fantasy series and it advances both the evil queen and the baby dragons plotlines. This is just one of those series that will brighten your day and I think there is just one more book to go! #ewgc

GO LUCK YOURSELF was a super cute, funny mm romance novel about a prince of Christmas falling for the prince of St. Patrick's Day. Fun world-building and holiday politics with the whole "you're so annoying but so hot and secretly sweet" deal going on. (great on audio) #ewgc

The best day of the month for librarians. 🤩

January was a pretty good reading month with only a few books under four stars for me. 😁 #booksky
