Here Hare Here!

The Hares on the Mountain!!! What does it have to do with a knife in a window? It's all here in this transatlantic mash-up of a multi-faceted traditional song centered around nothing other than some good old honest-to-God rolling over of ones leg. campsite.bio/firedrawnear X Pic by Tesni Ward

Medieval butt music! Doom trad!! Cradle of Filth!!! The 1916 rising if it was an American cop drama!!!! All this and more in FDN episode LIX, out now in all the usual places! Xxx campsite.bio/firedrawnear #firedrawnear #endlessdescentofthetraditionaryweirdo #traditionalirishmusic

Episode LVIX out tomorrow at noon. That's #59 for the non roman numerally literate amongst you. Woooo!!!!!! X campsite.bio/firedrawnear

Did you hear the one about the Newry Highwayman? He travelled through time and space only to mutate into a watered down trope in a dull cowboy song. New bonus episode for the patreons out now!!!! campsite.bio/firedrawnear

One Leg One Eye gig tonight was spectacular, started with sounds like the shifting of the Earth’s tectonic plates, moved into the most terrifying rendition of I’d Rather Be Tending My Sheep imaginable, ended with Liam Clancy reading Yeats’ The Second Coming. A fitting finale to live music in 2024.

The bonus episode looking at the Boston Burglar is now online for all and sundry to listen to / enjoy / hate / tear apart!!! X campsite.bio/firedrawnear

Gently floating home after a mesmerising performance from One Leg One Eye @firedrawnear.bsky.social at the Trades Club #HebdenBridge tonight. If you can get a ticket for the current tour, don't hesitate 𓆙

Very much looking forward to this

This wouldn't be the first time I was talking about something a year and a half before everyone else, but this was an accident: I was asked to review the Arkitekt's 8-hour ambient mix The Deep Ark for The Wire, and then . . . it never came out. For over a year. Until now. thedeepark.com

Been rather neglectful on this platform. To make up for it, here’s our most recent show. www.mixcloud.com/DublinDigita...

2.5 hours of electronic music + ambient from women + gender expansive artists here ——> open.spotify.com/playlist/3mJ...

Looking forward to this. Andy the Doorbum at In the Meadows one of my most memorable gigs of the year. Blew my mind

Strongly recommended.

Anyone who was lucky enough to see the extraordinary Andy The Doorbum on his too-brief European tour will be extremely excited to listen to this:

This is gonna be good. Andy the Doorbum is a fuckin hero, putting in huge work to reach devastated rural communities in NC. And his gothic metal stage show is genuinely one of the craziest gigs I've ever seen. Can very much recommend this episode as one to tune in for if you like Appalachian music.

Episode LVIII is a spotlight on the Appalachian region of the USA based around an interview with the one and only Andy the Doorbum and focusing on the relief work that he is currently carrying out there. campsite.bio/firedrawnear

If folk is your thing, you can't go wrong with this.

One Leg One Eye North UK tour starts in less than 2 weeks! 𓆙 𓆙 𓆙

On the road for Irish doc - Day 1 in Dublin with Ian Lynch chatting traditional music, song + culture before Sweny’s and a Ulysses reading… Galway next… @firedrawnear.bsky.social

the slow and gradual rug pull of the music industry on full display baby!

The only thing I want to be doing on a night like this! #arkhamhorrorlcg #ifyouknowyouknow

Work in Progress - FDN LVIII is based around a recent interview with a certain well loved doom-crooner who will be presenting traditional songs and music from Appalachia.

If you’re interested in traditional Irish music - its history, etymology and cultural impact - listen to Ian Lynch of Lankum’s excellent podcast. He’s here: @firedrawnear.bsky.social open.spotify.com/show/267G9uE...

An interview I did with Adhamh Ó Caoimh a few weeks ago for Totally Dublin. Pics by the great Ishmael Claxton. www.totallydublin.ie/arts-culture...

I've picked up some new followers so I should plug my Patreon, which is currently keeping me alive or thereabouts. I write about filmmaking, especially what I learned from putting my entire savings into making a low-budget folk horror film & then selling it, here: www.patreon.com/c/weirdandco...
