Drinking this 2020 Côte-Rôtie from Guigal. Absolutely delicious... Red and dark berries, vanilla, light smoke. It's so juicy up front, but finishes dry with a little chalk. A joy, sip after sip. You've just got to love Rhône reds!

It’s official: Yokozuna Deliberation Committee recommends Hoss and at a special JSA meeting on 29th, a new Yokozuna will be crowned for the first time in three and a half years. www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20...

This just in: The YDC approved Hoshoryu's promotion to Yokozuna. Pending the official approval by the JSA board on Wednesday's special meeting, he will become the 74th Yokozuna.

My report after the final day's action #Sumo #相撲 相撲 Sumo

What a battle in the play-off! #sumosky #sumo

Big pressure on Hoshoryu now! #sumosky #sumo

Straight in, no messing. #uptheputt Review to follow.

Good things come to those who wait - the Video Game History Foundation Digital Library launches on January 30th, 2025. (We'll tell you all about it then!)

Can Kinbozan hold out in the yusho race? Really didn't see this one coming! #sumosky

Anyone else into high-rye Bourbon? What's good? Rare breed is my go-to right now. I'm in the UK, but heading to NYC soon so eager to grab something if I can. Had some success last year when visiting CA - FR SBS and Booker's at a good price. But mostly looking for stuff you just can't get here.

RIP to Denis Law. The Holy Trinity now departed.

was mostly keeping it together until I read Kyle MacLachlan's tribute to David Lynch

The 73rd Yokozuna, Terunofuji, has expressed his intention to retire. (Note: Japanese newspapers don't use the word "intai" if it's not a done deal)

Terunofuji potentially retiring? It makes sense tbh. Between the diabetes and his knees, he would be within his right to look after himself now. If you don't follow sumo, look up his comeback story - incredible. Here's hoping Hosh can bounce back from today and grab the rope, a new era. #sumosky

What an awesome mix. I am absolutely here for this breaks revival.

Lovely article in the first edition of "A profound waste of time" on the Sega Technical Institute. It answers some questions on what was going on at the time. But it also resonates with me - being in an experimental team is exciting, but can be stressful - you constantly have to prove yourself.

Didn't get any Julmust this year, Ocado sold out seemingly straight away. It's become a festive tradition for me to have some on my birthday. Heading to IKEA later, maybe they will have some, but it's not the same.

For my birthday we drank Artemis (2020) from Stag's Leap. We visited the vineyard this year, but didn't pick this one up. We found this in Majestic, seems like they've had quite a haul of California wines recently. It's a huge wine in flavour and body & a bit of a bargain at the current price.

It's my birthday this weekend, which means some dedicated time for #retrogames. When I get a moment, I am usually firing up the tower of power - but I might delve into the Saturn catalogue a bit more instead this time. I have modded the Grey JP saturn with a picopsu and ODE.

Happy Friday! Last day before the break for me. Here are my top beers I drank this year. No surprises at #1!

Oh, and Amad! Quite brilliant.

Next bunch from #fussvent! Not a massive fan of coconut in stouts, but I'll certainly give that one a go. I've got a real build up in the beer fridge now, can't wait to get stuck into some of them - it's my birthday this weekend 😀

Here's my accumulated Spotify playlist of electronic music that caught my ear in 2024. Some lovely stuff this year. Favourite electronic albums list coming soon.

Watching the blu-ray release of Frasier. Have they retouched the eyes or what? Grammer's look cerulean.

Thou shalt stop obsessing over every idiotic thing Elon or Donold says and promote YOUR values and your solutions for a better world.

Looks what's back. Drinking in one of my oldest (surviving) beer glasses for extra nostalgia. Everything is so well balanced - the fruit against a real savoury edge, sweetness against creeping bitterness... and it's all wrapped up in a quaffable body. I really enjoy this one, a welcome revisit (4.5)

Next lot from my #fussvent box. I've had the Kernel one before, and it's lovely (4.2). The other three are new to me, but I'm looking forward to the Gateaux version of Clusters in particular. #craftbeer

Beer of the weekend? Old faithful - Plain Dark Beer by Newbarns. 330ml cans now, seems to be the trend. For impys though it does make sense, you don't really need the full size can. Made the mistake of starting this straight from the fridge - as it warms, the body and flavours really shine. (4.7/5)
