🚨PA colleagues: "Senator Fetterman wants to hear from you about how the federal funding freeze is affecting Pennsylvania." "If your project has been impacted, please fill out our constituent impact form:" forms.office.com/g/mFv2JAPxpC Get out your Other Support and share that info!

Since I’ve been getting this a lot - if you feel like supporting me by buying a jersey or something, I would rather you make a donation to Trans Lifeline or The Trevor Project www.thetrevorproject.org

ATTENTION: If you have received a NoA from NIH within the last 10 days, please let me know the grant number and award date. I am trying to characterize the time lag between awards and NIH Reporter. DM me if you wish or just reply

Our next micro_sam release is here! We have a new model for light microscopy, that massively improves for automatic segmentation! See the qualitative and quantitative comparison in the images, v2 is our previous version, v3 is the new one.

If there a google docs somewhere outlining which NIH/NSF panels have been cancelled/postponed verses which have met? I feel like this would be good information for any applicants.

Scientists, we need your stories! Post a 2-minute video on whatever social media apps you use. Show us your empty labs, tell us about the grant you are waiting for, and talk about why you do what you do. Tag @c4lifesciences.bsky.social and #Cuts2Science Tag your Members of Congress!

So I did this today: banged out a couple hundred words of a pitch while managing lab, sent it to the opinion page editor at the newspaper my parents still somehow get in print, and got back a "yes" in, I absolutely kid you not, under 15 minutes

Hi, I'm a climate journalist for the Boston Globe. If you're a federal employee working in New England for EPA or the Forest Service (or you were, until last week..) I'd love to hear from you. My colleagues and I at @bostonglobe.com are dedicated to protecting our sources. Signal: erinmdouglas.23

Primary is of the few companies going out of their way to make kids clothes that are truly gender neutral. They often have genderfluid modeling, along with going out of their way to have Black and disabled models. They launched an adult collection today and I thought some might be interested ☺️

Mostly preaching to the choir here, but a group of us moderators over on Reddit's AskScience put together kind of an explainer for the implications of some of the attacks on science funding and infrastructure in the US if it's useful for anyone else to share:

Probationaries who have been illegally fired: this article contains information about which law firm to contact in order to join the class action suit. www.govexec.com/workforce/20...

Want to be immersed in some cutting edge microscopy? Checkout the upcoming @pair-up.bsky.social workshop at MBL. Application deadline - March 7th 🔬🦠🥼🧪

ATTENTION FEDS Judge Chutkin won't block Musk's federal worker firings because "'possibility' that defendants may take actions that irreparably harm plaintiffs is not enough" Attorneys are asking us for evidence of harm. If you have evidence contact the tipline asap. We'll provide an email address

I am actively looking for a research scientist position in the East Lansing/Ann Arbor/Grand Rapids area. I have experience with in vivo stereotaxy, epifluorescence, confocal and light sheet microscopy. Please reach out if my background and skillset might fit your lab’s interests. #neuroskyence

Join us! Science Homecoming helps scientists reconnect with communities by writing about the importance of science funding in their hometown newspapers. We’ve mapped every small newspaper in the U.S. and provide resources to get you started. Help science get back home 🧪🔬🧬 🏠 sciencehomecoming.com

I'm a reporter at CNBC.com covering Elon Musk + his cos. We're interested in current or ex-fed employees' experiences w/ "DOGE," your work with (or perhaps investigating) Musk & his companies before 47. EPA, DOT, NASA, FTC, NTSB, SEC, NLRB -- DM me on Signal: lorakolodny.55

The Data Rescue Tracker follows the efforts of the Data Rescue Project to archive federal public data and sites. Great work! www.datarescueproject.org/data-rescue-...

When are Dems going to take over the "Stop the Steal" slogan?

NEW: NSF confirmed that they fired 168 employees today, out of their staff of ~1,500 feds. This includes some people who'd finished their 1-year probationary periods, which were extended to 2-years last month without explanation. More to come.

So a former postdoc from our department had just started as a PO at NIH and was terminated in the wave of terminations last week. He is in the research triangle and a phenomenal scientist with expertise in stress and glia. If anyone in the RTI is hiring asap please let me know! #neuroskyence

Are there other Directors of Postbaccalaureate Research Education Programs (PREP) here? Looking to connect and build community.

The 50501 Movement has planned protests at all 50 state capitols and the U.S. Capitol on Presidents’ Day at noon. While mainstream media isn’t covering it, many YouTubers have stepped up to provide coverage.

ATTENTION (PLEASE SHARE) If anyone has or knows of any positions that might be appropriate for the NIH staff members who were terminated, please post the information in this thread. There are lots of talented and accomplished people who may be looking for new opportunities.

Say hello to Chilli everyone! Named, of course, after the third member of TLC (Rozonda Thomas). We use our axolotl colony to better understand the mechanisms regulating vertebrate embryogenesis. These wondrous creatures are capable of regenerating a ton of their tissues and organs!

Checking in with sources this morning... The total from NIH was apparently slightly more than 1500 people (out of 5200 HHS Department-wide) 1/n

Status: Thinking of how I can be of service to all the peeps at NIH and NSF who have had their lives turned upside down this week. For those companies and institutions around the world looking for talent, this is an opportunity for you and them. Will look for matchmaking opportunities.

To all the former federal employees with scientific or administrative expertise and who are looking for new opportunities in the NY state area, please send me your resume and details (jjentsch at binghamton dot edu)

One thing that I'm increasingly coming to believe is that stories are going to be central to what comes next. Stories of the harm done. Stories of the great things achieved by government in the past. Stories of valor kindness and quotidian simple resistance.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

I maxed out my credit card, emptied my savings account, and took out a loan to move from Alabama to Bethesda, MD. I don’t even qualify for unemployment since I’ve only worked at NIH for a month. I will be financially and medically devastated. Seeking suggestions for anywhere that’s hiring!!
