Why no post more? @altdepted.bsky.social

This sounds awful, but do I still view the department of education posts to be the wholesome posts of the past? I no longer know who is behind the posts because it seems their leader would change who is the face of expression in the department. This doubt makes me sad..., and pissed, fn fascists.

The U.S. Department of Education began in 1867 to collect data on schools. It was demoted, then grew over time. In 1979, it became a Cabinet-level agency to oversee federal education policy and funding. Why all the consternation in conservative circles? The states still control curriculum.

Um, this is illegal AND violates the constitutional rights of this business (Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Co, 1886; and the lovely Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 2010) www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I am amazed at the sheer confusion the general media generates around polls. I guess 47% approval rating is now massive. I'm not sure what that actually means, except somebody threw a dart board at a board of influencer words. Hell, I'm not sure if this isn't a numbers garage sale.

When the cardinals arrive in spring, the trees are barren of leaves. The red plumage practically glows with fire..., and I think they know it.

Acting locally helps by showing job losses, rising costs, and failing services due to GOP policies. Community discussions, local journalism, and personal stories break the news bubble. Seeing policy failures firsthand, without partisan labels, makes the issue real, not just political rhetoric.

Fox News controls thought by reinforcing Trump supporters’ biases while omitting contradictions. They use confirmation bias and fear-based narratives to keep voters from seeing GOP policies harming them, shifting blame to the vulnerable instead of acknowledging economic losses caused by Trump cuts.

The irony: Trump's government cuts hurt his own voters. Example: In Parkersburg, WV (72% Trump vote), 125 federal jobs were cut, worsening local hardship. A GOP spending bill slashed federal aid, harming rural communities that rely on it. Economic distress rises where Trump had strong support.

Basic civics. Government isn’t some distant force. It’s us. It exists to provide essential services that individuals can’t manage alone. Clean air, safe water, roads, waste removal, and public safety. These necessities ensure that society functions and that we all have a fair chance to thrive.

With Trump, the world trembles, its foundation rotting as power stands vacant. Rage swells, unbroken, a tide of fire beneath the brittle bone. The storm looms, and when the plague comes, bird flu?, when the last pillar falls? No shield, no guide, only the abyss. No leaders... no leaders. Weeee

DOGE offends by undermining democratic institutions, bypassing congressional oversight, consolidating power in unelected hands, violates the Constitution by overstepping Congress’s budget authority, evades Senate-confirmed appointments, and disrupts the separation of powers. Outraged GOP? No? Pffft.

Trump’s claim that boycotting Tesla is "illegal" contradicts NAACP v. Claiborne (1982), where the Supreme Court upheld boycotts as First Amendment-protected speech. Such misinformation erodes public trust, weakens civil discourse, and misleads citizens on their rights in a democratic society.

The GOP once championed conservation, Lincoln set aside Yosemite, Teddy Roosevelt expanded national parks, and Nixon created the EPA. Over time, corporate interests became the GOP, leading to deregulation that weakens clean air and water protections, prioritizing profits over people's lives.

My father served in the military during Vietnam and spent 35 years in civil service, fighting to save endangered species. We struggled financially and moved constantly. He gave everything for this country, only to watch Musk and Trump gloat as they destroy lives indiscriminately. It's disgusting.

Very interesting take On the Media with Mark Blyth:Trump's On-and-Off-Again Tariffs, and Decoding 'Make America Healthy Again' www.npr.org/podcasts/452...

Rage is coming for the Trump administration and the Republicans. I feel it, and I see it in my colleagues who voted for him. The backlash is going to be so huge that even the entertainment channel Fox News will be able to quell it.

I had a conversation with a colleague about the concern I had for the American people. I also explained that I haven't watched cable news since I turned it off in 1997. She turned to me and said, "Things will be different in three months." I asked, "Why?" She said, "God will save us." Hmmm.

Why isn't Congress standing up for the fired federal employees? Are they stuck in "loading screen" mode? Because I swear, I’m living in some kind of dystopian sci-fi game, except the graphics are glitchy, the dialogue trees are broken, and there’s no way to skip the cutscenes. All your base...

I am dumbfounded by the media's response to trump's mediocre approval ratings. They act like they are stellar when, in fact, they just aren't that great. It's like the press can't speak plainly about commonsense information. His approval ratings are not high. They hover around sub 50 on average.
