I wish reporting would acknowledge that these firings are more akin to lock outs than to firings. But I guess you might have to know what a lock out is. It might impact the response and inspire harder push back.

I have seen people get thrown face-down onto a hard floor for failing to follow a judge's orders. I have seen people sent to Rikers Island for refusing to follow a judge's order. Courts have plenty of hard power. But they only have practice using it against poor people.

Any university that voluntarily shutters a DEI program, office or personnel “Because of Trumps Executive Order” is making a PR decision. Not a legal one. Trumps EO does not change anti discrimination law. If anything, the EO is unlawful. Universities should treat it that way.
