One example: let's say you have already posted a lot of art and tagged those posts with #art - you can now create an 'include' filter with the filter term '#art' and your profile's media tab will only display those posts / pictures.

As we approach the release next tuesday here's a fresh update (1.0.1 Build 12) that is currently in review and will be available shortly: + "Media" tab filters. As an alternative to the Portfolio function I you can now simply filter the regular media tab and define what is shown to others.
