tbh, if people aren’t less time identifying the “mistakes” that characters make that “allow” tyranny to flourish, we might be better equipped to realize that the descent is here and will exact a toll. culture and society are entering the underworld… returning the same is not an option.

i must be hanging out in the wrong spaces because i don’t ever see #westworld get the respect it deserves. “the first season was incredible and really dropped off after that” is incredibly disappointing to see over and over. it’s depth, heart, and symbolism deserves a deep-dive and celebration.

i don’t think it’s uninteresting to look at the hero and heroine’s journey in terms of anima and animus. the anima undertakes the heroine’s journey, the animus undertakes the hero’s journey. and the two interact, intersect, and cycle through.

if there’s one innovation that will come from streaming services being bonkers for ads, maybe production companies will start to create ads with different tones so that i don’t get culture shock when i get A BRIGHT HAPPY laundry detergent commercial in the middle of westworld.

reflecting on #duneprophecy. i remember when lila was being asked to undergo the agony, jen was against it and emaline had that line around the honour of sacrificing for the sisterhood. i thought that was setting up jen to be fearful and emaline to be stoic. and we saw the exact opposite play out.

man going through emotional rollercoasters recently, but receiving a ton of support and processing a lot of trauma/wounds. just proves to me that experiencing trauma isn’t always the worst part, but the response to it (or lack thereof) that makes the biggest difference.

thoughts on finale of #duneprophecy: felt like the end on HOTD S1 where 1 season story arcs come to a close and s2 gets set up. at this point i’m not really sure where the story or arcs go, and i’m ok with that. biggest moments for me was between tula and valya. i predicted valya wouldn’t yield..

i guess my pet peeve at this point is fan theories that focus on the surprise/reveal but are in no way connected to the story. like, wim’s dad being the old captain of the ship. that would make him a “too good” mother, which is not what we’ve seen from him.
