Is the orchard keeper on Bluesky?

I agree “mean tweets” is a lazy nonresponse to real issues, I just think we make mountains out of molehills with things sometimes and that makes the actual mountains appear to be illusions.
That tweet is dumb, Trump isn’t going to take over Canada, but meaningless imo.

They are temporary leases (normally for either 3 years or ~20 uses) and are about 10x the cost of an audiobook to a consumer.

Audiobooks are temporarily leased to libraries as software instead of sold, so they’re actually still pretty profitable for the publishers.

Do you think he’s going to do a military takeover of Canada? Crisis posting about stuff that isn’t a real crisis is a good way to convince people that there’s never actual Real issues with Trump beyond “mean tweets”

Ooh interesting. I thought it was marketed that way somehow. Really strange

What year was this? It’s been very trendy (and profitable) to find the most creative way to market yourself as an ally at different times in the last five years.

He just needs reps. If any other backup in the league had his stat line this year, they’d be seen as a massive success

Carrying the murder weapon and a confession note is just a little too convenient imo

Why isn’t Lina Khan on this? Blatant corporate greed and abuse of copyright laws and the first-sale doctrine.

Nice. Scolding the voters. Feels like an effective method of winning them over.

She is a generational talent. You don’t need to be a hater to prove how good your opinions are.

This attitude and idea is so strange. We’ve done lots of terrible things as a country, catastrophizing doesn’t help and it demonizes half the country.

I wouldn’t say that’s his main thing. His main thing is epic story telling and he’s very good at that.
The magic systems are neat, but they aren’t actually as fundamental or central as a lot of people think imo

Worth it only if you are fascinated in his world-building. You’re not missing any big-picture Cosmere stuff by not read it. Neat magic system, interesting world, okay story.
But also, you’ve spent how many hours in the Cosmere and White Sand will take you an afternoon, so just bite the bullet.

1- He’s a great storyteller. Good enough that you can know exactly what will happen and it remains compelling.
2- His writing is what I think everyone should be using as a blueprint for how to create religious art. It’s Tolkien-esque in that regard. It’s refreshing to consume good religious art.

Elantris is so bad it is worth reading only as proof that anyone can become a great writer with enough practice, regardless of where they start.

Sanderson’s long books are better as spoken performance art because he’s so excessively wordy it’s not fun to read.

HOT TAKE 1:
The Stormlight Archive is a deeply Christian and Mormon story and Sanderson is better than anyone living at writing religious literature.

Nope! Just give it a couple chapters and bear with being a little confused for a couple chapters. It all falls into place pretty quickly. The secret projects are more concise but less likely to hook you on the entire project

Are you an avid reader and if so, what is your tolerance for subpar writing?
I love Sanderson, but until Stormlight, he was a phenomenal storyteller and a passable writer. If you need great writing to fall in love with a story or characters, start with the way of kings

(This is a test to see if it’s true that if any post with “cosmere”, “Sanderson”, or “Stormlight” will get engagement on social media)

Just rip plot points and characters from old movies and see if anyone gets it.

Listen, I understand she may have offed someone in Zambia, but the book is so good I’m unwilling to dislike it. Which, ironically, strengthens the author’s claim that the repulsive cruelty of people is not as strong as the magnetism of shared humanity.

Stop it. Buy some fabric ones to use but keep a roll of paper towels in another room for emergencies. That’ll curb usage a ton.

Honestly, a simple, live catalog of what your friends are reading and watching, with comment sections to interact with their updates would be killer.
