Games journalists basically tank the entire games industry and give you the golden nuggets they find along the way. They are incredibly valuable, but it's hard to monetize so they get an infinitesimally small amount of the value they provide the world.

Whelp I just read a design doc that acknowledges that Y2038 problem is coming and I realize some part of my career is going to be Y2k all over again.

Platforms like this always feel like something I should buy, but never really have a use for: frame.work/ca/en/desktop I really like UMA architectures. Being able to share your memory between the gpu and the cpu is a super power.

AI has "The first hits free" vibes.

Played the mars vice demo, spent way to long trying to spot my pants. Felt like an idiot play tester who won't look up. But like, why were my pants no in the closet. Why did I not have a closet.

All our media tried to make interesting villains with subtle and relatable motives, but turns out 1960's bond villains were far more common then you would think. So... when they start monologging, that's when you can kill em'. You know these fuckers would monolog to, they don't shut the fuck up.

The video games industry makes zero sense these days.

The nice thing about Bluesky is that you can block all the existential dread that is preventing you from functioning.

When people suggest figure drawing as practice. They were not kidding when they said it would help. It’s like speed running learning poses and proportions.

Fuck I hate home worship. Water heater started leaking again. It failed 6 years ago and having it fail again is giving me stress. I mean this is just a throw money at it to go away issue. But I hate having to deal with on such short notice.

I think people undersell social media's ability to motivate people. Like if you were an amateur artist in the 90's, you'd share a few things with your friends and be done with it. Now, so many people can see your art and give you feedback on it.

A decade ago, there was a game being worked on that had sergals in it. Its working title was "Dissertation". Unfortunately, life got in the way. It would be nice to see it finished it someday. #sergal #vilous

Interesting. I just don't think anyone who is using GenAI for their game is really going to produce a compelling product. How many ideas change as they play with the art, mechanics, and writing of the game if you didn't do it. There are no shortcuts that don't have a tradeoff.

They thing they don't tell you about traditional arts. The supplies are not cheap and they are not durable. Paper is anywhere from 10 cents to like 3-4 dollars a page. I use to be horrified that my sister in law painted over her old canvases, but now I kinda get it. Shit's expensive.
