SCOOP: Trump administration officials late last night began placing dozens of posters of arrested unauthorized immigrants along the White House driveway. The intent is for the posters to be visible behind TV journalists reporting from those positions.

After an especially ear-splitting week of tantrums from Nancy Mace, Pete Hegseth, and Stephen Miller, I explore the question: Why does MAGA love adults throwing childish fits? It's connected to the Mar-a-Lago face and Trump's love of bad music. www.salon.com/2025/04/28/m...

BREAKING NYT: Pete Hegseth's personal phone number — the one used in a recent Signal chat — was easily accessible on the internet and public apps as recently as March, potentially exposing national security secrets to foreign adversaries. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/25/u...

This is a perfect example of how the right exploits the absence of hard and fast guardrails and yet insists that the left adhere to them.

The default Dem position should be that nothing under Trump is valid. Trump didn't honor his predecessors' agreements. He didn't even honor his own trade agreements. He didn't honor Congressional appropriations. He doesn't follow laws. Clean slate. If you rely on him, your loss.

In the wake of what Judge Dugan did (100% legal), now is a good time for everyone to know what she knows: An immigration or administrative warrant is *not* a judicial warrant. You are not obliged to obey it. Indeed, you can let the person out the back door. docs.google.com/presentation...

Last night’s news progression: Trump deported a citizen child -> Trump deported multiple citizen children -> Trump deported multiple citizen children with cancer

“If the Trump administration can get away with violating the Constitution because it knows the courts will be too slow to prevent it, then those constitutional rights simply no longer exist,” Adam Serwer writes:

this is black-letter violation of the fourth amendment

So the Trump admin suddenly yanked visas from thousands of international students—then backtracked only after getting dragged into court. Let’s be clear: they didn’t do the right thing. They got caught doing the wrong thing.

Yup. Also: -Prez who have signed: now 480. -Stanford daintily says that its "previous statements" should suffice. -Dartmouth has put out meek "our critics have some good points" message, similar to initial one from Harvard. But H followed with its clear "Hell no!" blast. D, you have another chance

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A government attorney says ICE is reversing the termination of legal status for international students around the US.

SCOOP: three days after Kilmar Abrego García’s family sued the govt for his wrongful deportation, US officials began working on plan to fix the mistake and ensure his safety in El Salvador until they could bring him back. Then the Trump administration dug in www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

BREAKING: Federal judge halts Trump’s anti-voting executive order. More to come. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Federal judge blocks Trump administration from implementing a policy to end DEI or race-related school programs or risk losing federal funding. cnn.it/3Eo8jmH

I will say it again: If we make it through this dark period with democracy intact, it may be because the administration's incompetence was greater than its depravity.

So, uh, it certainly looks like DOJ intended to file a letter to Judge Liman in MTA v. Duffy, but….it accidentally filed a letter containing its legal advice to the Department of Transportation instead storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

OK, sent out this free piece on the details of the Trump "final" plan for Ukraine that has been seen by Axios. The 5 points have basically been dictated by Putin. They set up a process which would allow Russia to expand into all of its neighbors. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

Men in plainclothes, one in a balaclava, raided the Charlottesville courthouse today. They abducted a local painter whose case (allegedly fighting with his roommate) was being dismissed, and another who was there paying fines. They took them away in unmarked vans. dailyprogress.com/news/local/c...

NEW: Trump's "final offer" for peace requires Ukraine to accept Russian occupation

Trump will eliminate antisemitism envoy in proposed State Department overhaul because hello, gullibles, he couldn't care less about antisemitism. In fact, he employs, enable & excuses antisemites. Some say with evidence that he too, is an antisemite. forward.com/news/714130/...

Who is this interpreter because she has seen some serious shit…

Gun registry? No. Autism registry? Yes? Fuck ALL the way off.

Biden tried to forgive student debt. The GOP successfully sued to stop it. And here we are. apnews.com/article/stud...

This should be an exhibit in every case

Not to put too fine of a point on this, but if I spent the last few months putting innocent people in concentration camps and the pope died basically three seconds after I met him, I would not continue life apace, I would not immediately clock back in at the fascism factory.

Harvard University sued the Trump administration, alleging that the government’s campaign to alter the school’s policies while cutting off research funding is unconstitutional. trib.al/YtIZTuv

New exclusive- The Trump administration has grown so furious with Harvard after escalating fireworks between the two sides that it is planning to pull an additional $1 billion of the school’s funding www.wsj.com/us-news/educ...

once again reminding folks that putting top secret information onto your phone is illegal and unsafe regardless of who you add to the chat or what app you choose to send it with. Even if you only add the one person who should get it, and you only use signal, it is still illegal and unsafe.

I've been shown what purports to be a draft version of a soon to be released Executive Order reorganizing the State Dept. The chain of custody is a bit indirect and it's important to be clear that there can be many versions of such orders circulating and they can be subject to subsequent edits etc.

Incompetence or a fabricated retreat? With this administration, both are entirely possible. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/18/b...

NEW: The entire NIH payment system is currently frozen for all grantees. This is tied to DOGE’s new “Defend the Spend” caper, reported in today’s Post, which has already led to payment cutoffs to doctors and health workers at hospitals treating the poor.

President Trump just fired almost the entire staff of the CFPB, who protect you from getting scammed by Wall Street. This is another assault on consumers and our democracy by Trump's lawless Administration. We will fight back with everything we've got.

Switch sides.
