I love how much the IAVS does to allow ERCs from underrepresented areas to participate in their Symposiums. It helped me when I was between positions with no funding. 🙌

Three body problem

We don't speak nearby enough of the impact of military actions on invasive species or ecosystems in general. Even emissions get left out of political discussions when arguing for military action. This needs to change.

Our president is a criptobro thief, but the people in Congress refusing to do anything about it are even worse. I'm so ashamed to be Argentinean.

It's hard to say who is the most saddest dude in that video, but then you see Milei looking at Elon like a fan boy, and you know it's him. ..and his waving in the background.. can he be more pathetic? 🙄

Why is this description of Argentina so accurate lol www.instagram.com/reel/DGSYKHW...

We are trying to recruit folks from across the US that might be willing to be involved in a beta test of a new project to quantify airborne allergen loads in their homes. If interested (no cost), sign up here: boulderblue.com

This excellent Nature paper from 2015 discussed multiple ways that sex is not binary, and why the idea of two sexes is simplistic. Required reading right now - please share! www.nature.com/articles/518... 🧪👨‍🔬🧬🖥️

"Die Studierendenvertretung der FU sorgte dafür, dass die Übertragung auch in einem Studi-Café und einem Hörsaal verfolgt werden konnte. "The moment has come to finally speak out for human rights and against the German state’s complicity in their violation (...) International Law is being dismantled before our eyes, at the universities and in the streets of Berlin as I write this letter." verfassungsblog.de/author/isabe...

Paper alert! I'm happy to share that my first research paper has been published! 🐝🌸 Road verges can support #pollinators but their potential for preserving representatively diverse and even communities is limited, due in part to high densities of non-native plants. doi.org/10.1016/j.ge...

Our current academic system, based on temporal contracts, not only has failed scientists but also has put science in a very vulnerable position to the raise of fascism.

Please mind that one of the original reasons given for why the in person event was not allowed to go forward was that FU wanted to avoid the presence of police on campus. It also had made the suggestion itself that the event be moved online (as detailed in the protocol of the Academic Senate).

“A lot of the problems with the publish-and-perish world are ratcheted up by institutional incentives" The system is broken..

In the last days the Berlin government and Freie Universität did everything they could to silence and threatened the organizers of an event hosting a UN Special Rapporteur, a British-Israeli scholar and a representative of Amnesty International, meanwhile literal nazis marched through Dresden.

While the event is ongoing, FU students who are watching via live stream in the original lecture hall have been locked in by police and told they will be evicted once the event is over. Apparently, staring at a screen with a livestream is now also considered a security risk in Germany. Dark times.
