I have come to realize I have bad habits. I love to read old dusty books. I also have developed the bad habit of wildlife photography—it makes me buy expensive cameras and lenses. Speaking of bad expensive habits, flying and travel are right up there too!

Starting prep for Costa Rica next month. Shirts, pants, underwear all moisture wicking! God, you cannot believe how much you sweat. Bug spray, bug spray and bug spray! Decisions camera and lens I want to take vs camera and lens I want to carry. Oh and cortisone shots for my knees!

Banana Slug on this mornings hike.

Sealy Posturepedic® has nothing on coastal rocks for comfort!

So, I bought another expensive cat toy. It is an electric toy that runs around trying to entice the cat to chase it. My cats are terrified of it! They keep an eye on it to make sure they are somewhere else. Back to the laser pointer, I guess.

All the lady vultures think he is swoon worthy!

I highly recommend this book by science journalist Adam Rogers. Adam also writes for Wired. This book is highly readable and funny as Adam uses himself as a test subject on a romp through exploring liquor, wine and beer. You will learn something that you can use at your next cocktail party.

I hate news articles written by AI. They lose the thread of the article, make incoherent statements, and end up not knowing what they just wrote about!

Sometimes, well most times, they just don’t do what you want them too.

A good place for an afternoon snooze.

Ever wondered how penguins lay down? It is a complex production, which involves sticking your beak into the ground and slowly lowering yourself down. With no effective arms to use, they have to be creative.

My neck itches ohh right there!

A gray day, but our resident Osprey is keeping a vigil at the harbor. Either that or he is waiting for the crab boats to come back.

You owe it to yourself to read this book. It is a fictionalized account of a very real Russian Gulag where the only crime was disloyalty to the government.

Clinging to a rocky perch, the little Common Murre has made quite a comeback from oil spill days.

Sometimes I get a lucky shot.

Get that camera outta my face!

Seafood for breakfast anyone?

It just makes me happy to take pictures of harbor seals.

Am planning a trip to Costa Rica and was considering upgrading my camera. Then I went back through my old vacation pictures where I used various cameras upgrading as I went along. I realized the problem with my photos might not be related to my camera!

Whimbrel on a quiet morning at the beach.

Mmm breakfast

Finishing up a book on the history of the SF Giants. I essentially knew the history, but not the details or the behind the scenes action. Great read, just in time for Spring Training!

Both of these books are appropriate reads now to remind us of why snuggling up to Russia is not a good idea.

I miss flying! I recently sold my airplane. I don’t regret selling, because it was time, but I do miss the freedom of the sky, the awesome sense of power, and the sheer magic of flight!

Little baby seal!
