On my last trip to the American Southwest, I couldn’t secure a permit for The Wave, but I found this surreal landscape not far from it—an otherworldly place where light and stone merge under the stars. 🔥✨ What’s been your most unexpected discovery while traveling?

"Political deviants of all kinds long found it convenient to slipstream under the language of more respectable right-wing politics. But...this analysis misses the ways in which the Trump years have genuinely made so many right-wing people worse."

This katydid from Ecuador has been affectionately named by photographers "candy-cane katydid". The truth is... we are not sure which species it is. One possibility is a Harroweria nymph, but until someone witnesses the transformation into the adult stage it will remain a mystery.

About the BWCAW Gunflint Ranger Station in Grand Marais: "Her immediate supervisor abruptly retired, too, and now, Nezhad said, the Gunflint office that already dealt with staffing deficits has no employees. The office used to have seven or eight people." www.startribune.com/how-will-job...

I find this hellebore variety completely hypnotic. I'm not getting anything else done while these sit around waiting to be photographed. #flowers #photography #PhotographersUnited 𝐻𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑢𝑠 𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑠 'Wedding Bells'

I wasn't expecting to see birds on this trip, but there were a few European Shags dotted on the cliffs at Arnarstapi today. What beautiful birds they are! #lceland

Seeing people get up to nonsense like this - like not to get all corny, but honest to God - reminds me that people are worth fighting for lmao.

Happy Monday Everyone! I’ve been revisiting some old images from Italy as I make plans to return again this spring. I’m excited to get back here and will soon be offering more workshops to this awesome country. If you’d like to be the first to know as plans develop please shoot me a message. 🍷🇮🇹

There it is! Nothing they are doing is for you or me. It's all for them...

Some federal employees who accepted Trump’s buyout offer are now being notified that their buyout has been denied, and they are being terminated instead.

#blueskyartshow #monochrome This has always been a favorite of mine, of my dog Razzie. It's a poor quality cellphone snap, but the feel of it has always appealed to me. I hope you find something in it to enjoy, too ...

#blueskyartshow #monochrome Another monochrome image of the beautiful Razzie, this time more introspective. The background is Lake Superior on the Canadian side.

Just a reminder that Germany was the center of scientific progress until the Nazis suppressed, drove away, or killed all the non-Nazi scientists.

Happy Valentine's Day! I made this image years ago for my wife. I used a powerful flashlight to paint the heart in the trees during the exposure. It took many tries to get it right.

REPOST if you support our federal workforce and know how dedicated they are to their jobs. Show them you appreciate them!

You've probably noticed that it's more and more expensive to take care of your animal pals. One reason is that private equity firms and huge corporations have been buying up vet practices across the country and raising the price of care. Vet staff doesn't see any of that profit, of course.

Dogs know.
