Frumpy Trumpy has just unilaterally raised your taxes, again, without an act of Congress. He did this by claiming that it’s an “emergency”. If you’re thinking “What emergency?” That is exactly the point. There is no emergency, so these tax increases should not be valid.

The “Tea Party” took over the Republican Party by showing up when it matters and voting each other in. If we can figure out how to connect with each other and support each other, we can redefine the agenda.

In our history, we’ve almost never had free or fair elections. Just in 2024, bomb threats closed down polling places in enough Democratic-leaning precincts to sway the results. If 2026 or 2028 isn’t completely free or fair, that isn’t new. It isn’t a reason to stop trying. We progress despite it.

Our payments on the Federal debt are literally more than 3 times what we spend on the entire Federal civilian workforce.

Really, just this again.

I wish I had some less anecdotal info, but Republicans don’t seem particularly thrilled about the way things are going right now. They still express tepid support for Trump, and the belief that “something had to be done [about big government]”, but their pre-inauguration enthusiasm seems to be gone.

Modern billionaires get on so well with modern racists and fascists because they suffer from the same psychological dilemma: everyone wants to believe that they are a good person, but most of the people in those groups are not. The only way to bridge that gap is to completely break from reality.

I know the left likes to tease Frumpy Trumpy about it, but shouldn’t there actually be a more serious discussion about whether or not the President, who is supposed to be a US-born citizen, is being used as a proxy for a foreign-born person that is not eligible to be President themselves?

Cutting staff hardly ever turns things around for a failing business. Asking your employees how to be better, however, works almost every time. If you have even just a few employees, let alone thousands, and your business is failing, it is guaranteed that one of your employees can tell you why.

It’s sad that our society’s big takeaway from evolution is “survival of the fittest”, which isn’t really a feature of evolution, when “diverse populations are the most resilient” is actually one of evolution’s most important takeaways.

1,000 Federal Workers costs the average American about $0.90 in taxes per year. Even if we eliminated the entire Federal Workforce, the average American would save less than $100 in taxes per month. How can we convince national newspeople to confront the propaganda with math?

Calling Denver or Colorado a “blue island” makes it sound like we’re drowning. Do Democrats say “blue island” because their heads are below water?

If you can’t summon the courage to say it, how is anyone supposed to believe that you’ll have the courage to fight for it?

Trans rights are human rights. Immigrants are good for our culture and our economy. Women should have freedom and autonomy. Our homeless deserve homes. Our minimum wage should be $22. The government helps people. Euphemisms are a trap. Be clear. Be bold.

I don’t know if reporting accounts actually gets them removed, but I am still happy that clicking on an account to report it doesn’t suddenly flood your feed with that account. From a user experience perspective, this is a significant upgrade over the app formerly known as Twitter.

I spent yesterday with the Denver Democrats looking for hope, but today I feel more hopeless than ever. All I found is a party that realizes its fundraising and enthusiasm has dried up, but only wants to double down on the bets they’ve lost over the past 10 years. Where do we even go from here?

I have never been more nervous for our country than after spending a day with the people that really make up the Democratic Party. After this experience, I have a different view of the desire for a Party that is altogether new. Democrats are held back by who and what they already are.

As it turns out, laws don’t mean much when they aren’t faithfully upheld and executed.

I don’t read the articles about the ridiculous things that Frumpy Trumpy says, so this may already be happening, but if he isn’t being challenged with the fact that Canada is actually 10 Provinces and 3 Territories when he talks about a “51st State” then the news is not doing its job.

SCOOP: A US Treasury threat intelligence analysis has designated DOGE staff an ‘insider threat'. An internal email reviewed by WIRED calls DOGE staff's access to federal payments systems “the single biggest insider threat risk the Bureau of the Fiscal Service has ever faced.”

On the path from democracy to dictatorship is the implementation of single-party rule. Vigorously backing and fighting to preserve our other options is an essential part of keeping our freedom. Don’t let them convince you that having one choice is essentially the same as having two.

Musk is currently conducting a completely unreasonable search, in one of the worst violations of the 4th Amendment in US history. The privacy of hundreds of millions of Americans is being ignored without warrant or probable cause. Anything learned is fruit of a poisonous tree, making it worthless.

Wow. I guess we really aren’t going to talk about it? I guess we’re really just going to pretend that Presidents have always had the power to unilaterally raise taxes without any input from Congress so long as they say “it’s an emergency”?

Does anyone else remember that time when all the immigrants went on strike, but didn’t actually ask for anything, so they just went back to work after a couple of days? They should do that again but…you know…ask for something before going back to work this time.

So, are we going to talk about the horrific abuse of emergency declarations over the past two weeks or…?

The Democratic Party really needs to stop sending the message that if you didn’t get involved in politics 30 years ago then “it’s not your turn” and they don’t want to hear from you. Who cares whose turn it is? We need the best voice for right now, even if that voice just started speaking.

If you are fine with calling it the Gulf of America you should be fine with using someone’s correct pronouns or new name.

A tax on Canada is a tax on oil and lumber. A tax on Mexico is a tax on clothing, food, and cars. Is that the way you want your government to raise $230 billion in taxes? Or would you rather raise that money with a tiny tax on 330,000 of the richest people in the world?

SCOTUS may have ruled that Presidents cannot be held criminally liable for “official acts”, but government employees and appointees have no such immunity. Attorneys General and District Attorneys should continue to prosecute anyone that commits criminal actions based on Presidential orders.

One of the surest ways to immediately cause a recession is to cut too much government spending too quickly, and especially without any predictability or certainty.

For a lot of people in the world, when they think of “America” they think of the continents. For all of those people, the country in question is called “The United States”. Unfortunately, there’s a certain political view here in the United States that hates to think of us all as united.

Bistro Vendome is one of our favorite restaurants, and always feels a little special, but spending our anniversary with Bistro Vendome felt a little extra special, and that was pretty impressive.

Who remembers the Republican attempt to rename French Fries “Freedom Fries”? Why are we taking the Republican attempt to rename the Gulf of Mexico more seriously? If they weren’t know-nothings, they would go after American Dressing and American Muffins as easy, world-recognized things to rename.
