Council President @elliottpayne.org lays out the parallels between the control that the wealthy have on both our federal and City government so well in this incredible op-ed. www.startribune.com/minneapolis-...

Target is facing a 40-day consumer boycott starting Wednesday over the company’s shift away from diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies.

Every time some elected democrat sucks off Reagan, I think about Duane.

Of course the main story is Trump’s authoritarianism. But the secondary story is that some university presidents and donors called for this. They went on the news and in front of Congress to claim their students were violent antisemites, funded by Iran, who don’t deserve speech rights

Since the passage of Question 1, the Mayor has focused on blaming the council rather than taking responsibility for his executive authority. We need a Mayor who will confront mismanagement and dedicate himself to serving all of us. It’s time for a new direction. www.startribune.com/counterpoint...

I hate this

What the fuck. When I downloaded the childhood vaccine schedule to follow after the CDC inevitably changes things under RFK Jr. I also thought to myself, “Vaccines will have to even be available.” And here we are.

Ward 9 residents! Can you commit to caucus on April 8, 2025 at 7PM? I need your help. Please fill this form out and we will send you all information you need. www.jasonchavez.org/caucus

just about every child has a non-gendered bathroom in their home but nobody seems to give a shit about that

41 degrees and sunny in Minneapolis right now. Every window open. Bliss.

Minneapolis's newest bookstore is Inkwell Booksellers, at the HenCen building at East Hennepin and Central Aves. SE, which is holding its grand opening today.

feetcuffs is insane. do they think he's Jason Bourne

I'm shocked there hasn't been an EO yet rescinding Juneteenth as a federal holiday

The only thing "fit for a king" is a guillotine.

Thinking about everyone who followed CDC advice related to the pandemic (myself included) as if the CDC was immune to politics and late stage capitalism. And now I am downloading a childhood vaccination schedule because who knows what RFK Jr. will do and will insurance even cover vaccines anyway?

This is a concentration camp. They are describing a concentration camp.

Johnny looking magical in the snowfall today

We probably need to insist on a local news norm where we say "Frey administration" when the mayor's people are involved in a story. Mayor is absent from these stories, and it lets him evade accountability for things he is responsible for.

🥳

We're so cooked

middle school kids at a military base have shown more resistance to the trump administration than senate democrats

As a note: the blanket authority proposed is one year. I listened to the presentation and discussion. The Council will be briefed on actions. It is so that the city can join litigation or file amicus briefs on the rapid fire shit we’re dealing with.

Please read/share Paisley Currah's comprehensive analysis of the recent anti-trans executive orders in the US. “These policies work together to push transgender people out of workplaces, schools, health care and daily life—deliberately making it impossible to function in society"

I have seen people get thrown face-down onto a hard floor for failing to follow a judge's orders. I have seen people sent to Rikers Island for refusing to follow a judge's order. Courts have plenty of hard power. But they only have practice using it against poor people.

I moved all my personal accounts to Proton in November (email, calendar, storage). It was super annoying to change the email address I’d used for almost twenty years. Proton costs money and is down more often than Google. But it’s worth every cent.

If your boss or company tells you to do something unethical: don't say yes. Make them write it down.

This particular moment is a wonderful time to reread and gain inspiration from Herman Melville’s “Bartleby, the Scrivener”

I promise not to critique all media through the lens of Lost (actually I don’t promise), but I’m getting very real Lost Seasons 2 and 3 vibes from Severance Season 2, in a good way

Not the first time Guantanamo has been used to unlawfully detain immigrants (for DECADES), and, yes, this is still a horrifying development

I knew I wanted a good cry but to put myself through six seasons of Lost just to get it is pretty masochistic of me

Students and faculty got arrested and put their careers on the line protesting genocide. I want to see some Democratic officials getting arrested to protect democracy.
