I do not think many systems are developed anymore with the "what if it breaks?" question in mind

we failed as a society when video games stopped coming with neat little instruction booklets that tell you about the characters and world and shit

It is been decades and I keep despairing at the discourse leftists and liberals continue to pursue in hope to win elections. Half the people out there do not care what happens to trans or Palestinians and if you insist on their rights over local workers', you are going to have many more Trumps.

It is 2025, we should not be adding <p> by hand...

Why can't we have, in the real world, some actually smart and challenging villains to fight, rather than buffons? Why can't we have actual drama, rather than ridiculous farce? Why is it all a poorly written TV show?

Tiglath-Pileser III would be proud of Trump today #Gaza (yeah, I am aware 0.001% of world population could get the reference here)

Forgive me if it sounds arrogant, but these days I look at americans on here and cannot stop thinking "why are you not on the streets protesting?".

"I don't need Linux. I'm a writer not a programmer" I'm a fiction writer too and I use Linux. And git even. We're not all programmers. I can barely write some shell scripts.

As a software eng, it is inherently satisfying to see an open approach beat close approaches in an innovative field. Linux is open: Windows is closed Llama, Deepseek, Mistral are open: OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic& many others others closed Closed approaches winning almost always lead to monopolies.

Kind of sucks that we didn't at least get a Roaring Twenties before what's about to come

I thought I knew english, deeply. Then I got interested in #sailing and discovered SO MANY NEW WORDS. Sailing terminology is like a plug-in language of english.

Had to use Windows 11 Pro at work today and it is a complete shitshow. 8 minutes to install an update when opening PowerShell, changing language has it inconsistently applied even after a reboot, duplicate menu functions. Feels like nobody tested parts of the OS. How do you cope this horror?

If America is led by nazis and Russia aims to restore Soviet Union, can we fast forward to the when Hitler invades USSR?

I did not expect a majority on my feed defending #TikTok.

As a kid I watched Twin Peaks and was mesmerized by how you could do something "weird" for tv and have a following. That kicked my imagination in motion to this very day. Whatever there is on the other side of the curtain, I hope is good to you David #DavidLynch

My poor, tortured heart is at ease any time I see a device that still has a 3.5 headphone jack 🥲

I think humanity should have fixed printers before attempting AI or, God forbid, AGI

The thing more people should learn about creators is that they are also people. People change. The person who wrote your favorite book is gone because the person they are today has been irreparably changed as a result of the release of that book, the reception, what happened after. LIFE

for the love of baby cheeses can we stop adding -omance to every genre? it just gets stupider and stupider. Horromance, now dystomance? A book can have a romantic subplot without being turned into a cringe hashtag

My unpopular literary opinion is that there are books for adults and book for non-adults. No YA or "Middle Grade" nonsense.

I see often the opinion that some companies pay no consideration to the rights of their users. Wrong. It is some users that do not care about privacy, workers' right, environment, political stances. These companies exploit the lack of judgement and ethics of these users. We should do better

Me: "I am sure in large companies every decision is taken after appropriate market and user research" OpenAI: CEO decided and thought it was right

I want to live in a world where nothing Elon ever says is "breaking news"

The old rule at the dawn of the Net was "once it is on the internet, it stays on the internet".

Genuinely don't like when people pitch a work of art via culture war crap. Saying 'Read this to piss off the rightwingers' or 'Buy this to make the chuds cry' etc. That's just sad to me. Talk about the thing's beauty and radiance without that nonsense reducing it a vehicle for some imagined 'win'
