RIP Monolith Production (1994-2025) Thank you for your hard work and for making our lives full with your games! 💜 FPS Games released in the 90s - Blood, Blood 2 and Shogo: Mobile Armor Division

The First FPS game featuring texture-mapped walls. It was developed by no others than id Software . Control high wizard Petton Everhail and descend into Catacombs to defeat the evil lich Nemesis and rescue your friend Grelminar. 🧙‍♂️ 💿 Catacomb 3-D ~ id Software

Who wants some Wang?! Shadow Warrior is Japanese-themed Build engine game where we play Lo Wang in a fight against Master Zilla. Apart from powerful weapons and beautiful levels the game stood out for its fully controllable vehicles. 🔥 💿 Shadow Warrior (1997) ~ 3D Realms

Most players have a love-hate relationship with this title for a good reason. While devs did a great job with the Hillbilly theme (humor, visuals, one-liners...), the levels were often very cryptic. What did you like the most? 💿 Redneck Rampage (1997) ~ Xatrix Entertainment

Quiver is another "Doom clone" that came out a bit too late, competing with games like Quake 2 that came out the same year. It's still fun though! Jumping, 500 max health and Fajita Maker weapon?! That's dope! Have you played it? 💿 Quiver (1997) ~ ESD Games

ROTT (originally a follow-up to Wolf 3D) had it all - 13 weapons, 5 chars, giblets, dog mode, jump pads, GADs, rolling boulders, lava walls... It was silly and crazy, it was LUDICROUS! Happy 30th birthday! 🎂 💿 Rise of the Triad (1995) ~ Apogee Software (DIP)

Before the Build Engine games, there was Ken's Labyrinth. Full of colorful maze-like areas, weird monsters, and exotic weapons such as bubble gum. What stood out the most were the interactive elements like vending and slot machines! 💿 Ken's Labyrinth (1993) ~ Ken Silverman

Before the og ID Software team hit it big with Wolf 3D there was Hovertank 3D. They developed it for the Softdisk and it is considered the first FPS game. Despite solid-colored walls, the significance of the graphics engine was a huge breakthrough. 💿 Hovertank 3D ~ ID Software

Some call it a "poor man's Quake" but despite its simplistic level design, Chasm has a solid combat system with powerful weapons and detailed enemy dismemberment. It also looks damn good! 💿 Chasm: The Rift (1997) ~ Action Forms

Have you played Fate? It's a canceled Build engine game that has only seen a short demo release. Too bad, really, because the demo was fun, and it looked quite promising! 💿 Fate (1996 Demo) ~ Intracorp (Capstone Software)

Let's kick it off with one of the most iconic main menu scenes from any FPS game. 💿 Unreal (1998) ~ Epic MegaGames & Digital Extremes
