We were moved by these 47 microfictions on our Micro Prize Longlist! These writers definitely are making it hard to choose a Shortlist! fracturedlit.com/2024-micro-p...

Oof! Thrilled and surprised to see my story still here, although I reckon it's only by the skin of its teeth. Huge congratulations to everyone on the shortlist and longlist. I'm excited and honored to be in the Bath anthology with you all. ⚡❤️ @bathflashaward.bsky.social #FlashFiction

New OPEN Finalist by Vanessa Tamm! "They spoke with such thick accents that she sometimes couldn’t understand them, her father’s distant parents, but she clearly heard the woman say, “It can’t be yours, not blood-related, not this loud little silly girl,”" fracturedlit.com/blood-related/

"The lies came fast after that, smooth little rocks that I set on the table between us: Yes, I like French cinema; no, I just haven’t met the right guy yet; yes, I love to hike." Love this poignant #flashfiction by @emilyrinkema.bsky.social

Don't forget to enter @fracturedlit.bsky.social's 2025 Ghosts Fables, & Fairy Tales Prize. The deadline's not for a while yet (13th April) , but I know how easy it is to get distracted! fracturedlit.com/2025-ghost-f...

New OPEN Finalist by Kristen Skovsgärd! "My uncle showed me a casting from one of his hawks. I asked if it was the same as a pellet, and he said it was, but with hawks, you call it a casting." fracturedlit.com/gizzard/

"As I slid on my sandals, I told you that the thing about sinkholes is that you can’t prepare for them because you don’t see them coming." Big love for this gem by @emilyrinkema.bsky.social (Congrats, Emily!) in @fracturedlit.bsky.social 💙💙💙

reminds me of the worried excitement of counting seconds between lightning and thunder in a storm… the collision of beauty and dread is 🤌 (+ i gravitate toward clocks, calendars, time-tellers and all possible versions of time)

That night as we lay in bed, no light coming through the curtains I closed tight enough to keep out the moon, you said not to worry, that you’d protect me from my fear. For just a moment I thought maybe I’d let you try. So Good! @emilyrinkema.bsky.social @fracturedlit.bsky.social

Love this piece by @emilyrinkema.bsky.social “I should have told you that I can’t look at stars because their distance is measured in years, that I don’t acknowledge birthdays, that there wouldn’t be a second date because two points make a timeline.”

Excited to be reading for Fractured Lit! Thank you @fracturedlit.bsky.social and @tommydeanwriter.bsky.social

Just try and beat my evening reading 🤓 @marioaliberto3.bsky.social / @fracturedlit.bsky.social

New OPEN Finalist by @emilyrinkema.bsky.social "On our first date, our only date, I lied to you when you asked me about my biggest fear. Sinkholes, I said." fracturedlit.com/sixty-fifty-...

Absolutely gorgeous work by @emilyrinkema.bsky.social

@claudiamonpere.bsky.social ‘s amazing story

“Tender, crumbly, crunchy, buttery, creamy, crispy, velvety. You eat and weep at the glorious textures.” Devastating and timely and beautifully horrifying @claudiamonpere.bsky.social

Looking for a way to fight existential dread & other such abstract fears? Check out my @fracturedlit.bsky.social story "Sixty, Fifty-Nine, Fifty-Eight." Can't guarantee it will work better than my current gin & tonics, cake & dog cuddles strategy, but worth a try... fracturedlit.com/sixty-fifty-...

"My therapist had suggested I cultivate a tangible one, something I could see and avoid rather than my fear of time" Wow, can @emilyrinkema.bsky.social write flash 🤩 Great use of the countdown in this one; a completely unique character who seems to embody all our fears

New OPEN Finalist by Bruce Scandling! "We walk cautiously along the trail in leaden morning light, here for the spawning salmon and for a change. That’s how she said it on the phone last week, my daughter: I need a big fucking change of scenery." fracturedlit.com/pulse/

“I probably should have told you the truth. I should have told you that I don’t have calendars or clocks in my apartment. I should have told you that I count in loops backwards from 60 when I start to panic.” Gorgeous writing by @emilyrinkema.bsky.social

New OPEN Finalist by @emilyrinkema.bsky.social "On our first date, our only date, I lied to you when you asked me about my biggest fear. Sinkholes, I said." fracturedlit.com/sixty-fifty-...

I'm delighted to announce I'll be reading for Fractured Lit beginning in mid-March. :) @fracturedlit.bsky.social @tommydeanwriter.bsky.social

This is such a gentle, haunting story by @claudiamonpere.bsky.social —the love the women show each other in this world is both heartbreaking and hopeful.

“You realize how much of your body you’ve never touched with intention: the satiny inside of your arms, your knuckles’ bony hills– Why did you never notice how irregular they are?” wonderful story from @claudiamonpere.bsky.social!!
