Absolutely horrifying and heartbreaking. This is what this country does to people fleeing persecution now. Literally leaving them to rot. I just can't. 💔💔 hyphenonline.com/2025/02/17/m...

A horrific case, raising more serious questions about the companies running asylum accommodation. Why are these companies allowed to keep extracting huge profits from services whilst failing in their duty of care and presiding over a litany of failings?

As explained in article below, rather than combatting exploitation, immigration raids actually increase the precarity of people's positions, and can lead to greater levels of trafficking. Labour's latest push on raids is counterproductive, and puts people at more risk. www.lbc.co.uk/opinion/view...

Thank you, Sheffield Jews Against Israeli Apartheid. "to focus exclusively on its impact on Jewish people and the eradication of Jewish communities, without learning from what it has in common with other racial persecutions and genocides, diminishes the universal significance of the Holocaust"

Israel is back pedalling on the ceasefire deal it signed but not in the mass killings of Palestinian civilians. By not reining in Netanyahu, his US-EU sponsors are accelerating the West's loss of credibility & soft power everywhere www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...

Now that a ceasefire has been agreed to in Gaza, the bombs will stop falling, and the world will breathe a sigh of relief. Yet, for those of us who survived, the war hasn’t ended—it has merely transformed. https://mondoweiss.net/2025/01/the-gaza-ceasefire-will-not-cure-the-wounds-of-genocide/ #Pa…

Israel is blocking the UN from investigating claims of sexual violence on October 7 because they’re worried it might lead to an investigation into all the sexual violence the IDF is currently inflicting on Palestinians they kidnapped from Gaza.

This gang of sex abusers preyed on young children in Walsall, and got away with it for years. What could possibly explain the failure by Nigel Farage, Elon Musk and the Tories to call for a public inquiry about it?

Damascus has been liberated. Syria is free of the Assad regime. I can’t process anything. After 54 years of the Assad family holding Syrians hostage - we are free.

Ibrahima Bah is a teenage asylum seeker from Senegal who is being imprisoned in the UK. In December 2022, he was steering a dinghy that broke apart in the Channel. Very sadly, four people drowned, and five are still 'missing at sea'.

Amnesty International’s new landmark report concludes that Israeli authorities have committed – and still are committing - genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip.

You stop exploitation of migrants by targeting the exploitation not the migration. That means minimum wage and labour market enforcement & giving migrants rights so they’re not scared to report employers. Otherwise you’re just helping shitty employers scare their workers into keeping quiet.

🔥 Why is the ICC ruling so important? Because all members of the ICC are now obliged to arrest Netanyahu if he sets foot on their soil. Those countries include UK, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Canada, Australia, NZ… over 120 nations. In “the West” it’s only the US which is the exception.

“This is a watershed event in the history of international justice. The ICC has never, in over 21 years, indicted a pro-Western official. Indeed, no international court since World War II has done so." Our story on the ICC warrant just issued for Netanyahu: www.dropsitenews.com/p/icc-netany...

Jeremy Clarkson, James Dyson, the Earl of Derby – they’re up in arms about paying tax on the vast areas of land they own. Small farmers are worried that changes to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) will affect them. But who are the big landowners complaining the loudest? Thread: 1/

With farm owners protesting today over the prospect of paying a highly discounted inheritence tax, I'm sure you've seen quotes about how they "feed the nation". But nobody is talking about the migrant workers who actually pick the crops on horticulture farms, so here's a short thread about them.

Palestinian journalists and media outlets aren't on BlueSky — and might not move here — so pleading this platform to not let a genocide become background noise amid the fun-new-club vibes www.theguardian.com/world/2024/n...

Love to see this, big up the couple in India

I continue to update! go.bsky.app/SNvMPk3

Twitter has lost nearly one-fifth of its daily active user base in the U.S. and a whopping one-third in the UK.  mashable.com/article/elon...

On 31st October, the Home Office stopped issuing biometric residence cards (BRPs) as part of the eVisa transition. Until now, 4 million people relied on physical documents, including BRPs, to prove their immigration status and basic rights in the UK. Here's what we've seen so far👇

There is no chance of Labour's "Smash The Gangs" policy working. It's no different from "Stop the Boats". Enforcement policies, deterrents, detention and deportation, are all shown not to work. The only thing which does is making it safer and simpler to seek asylum. inews.co.uk/news/politic...

NFL stats nerd getting it better than every political pundit reading the polling entrails for meaning.

Everyone always reaches for Cable Street in these moments, but London kept fighting fascists for decades: this is a picture of Mosley trying to hold a rally in Hackney and being punched to the ground by antifascists literally as soon as the meeting opened 💪

A reminder Labour continues to defend the Tories' draconian definition of "serious disruption" as anything more than a minor hindrance, which is central to the state's ongoing crackdown on protests. The courts ruled this is unlawful. The government's appeal is expected soon

BREAKING: This morning protesters blockaded the Raytheon facility within the University of Arizona Tech Park in Tucson, AZ. At the UA Tech Park, Raytheon, which supplies the Israeli military, works in close collaboration with the university of Arizona to design weapons of war.

So, we're not allowed to protest a brutal war, and remember those who have lost their lives in it, on a day that was created to remember the atrocities of wars and those who have lost their lives in them? This ridiculous, divisive rhetoric just makes me want to go & protest louder. #FreePalestine

All 31 Labour councillors in Sheffield have defied Keir Starmer and the Labour leadership in its support for Israel by voting for a motion calling for a ceasefire. 'He can’t sack you all.' ✊ novaramedia.com/2023/11/02/l...
