Attorney just passing time, swimmingly. Hoping I don't drown, but not much faith in the water surrounding me anymore. Not your attorney, don't want to be.

A highlight of this decision is when the judge quotes Kristi Noem's horrific video in the El Salvador prison as evidence the government has the power to return the people it sent there.

"Over the weekend, Trump endorsed sending U.S. citizens to El Salvador prisons." www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

i am fascinated by the outright refusal of people in the professional political commentary class to just consider the possibility that there is no plan and that trump really is a braying idiot with the more acute case of narcissistic personality disorder on record

To those 50+ countries calling (if any really are), I hope that they are aware that you can't reach a bargain with someone who isn't truthful and who has no honor to keep his word. The "deal" you reach will only last as long as the one pulling your puppet strings wants it to last.

Bates: He inherited an economy that was the best-performing in the world. But in just two months, he’s crashing that economy with the biggest tax increase on middle-class families in 50 years—raising the prices he promised he would lower, and breaking his number one promise to them.

For “One First,” I wrote up why the federal courts absolutely *do* have the power to order the U.S. government to take all possible steps to bring back an individual who was wrongfully removed from the country—and what it would mean if they didn’t: www.stevevladeck.com/p/138-abrego...

Agree with this, and I'm questioning why too. www.patheos.com/blogs/henryk...

The Trump administration abruptly laid off the entire staff running a $4.1 billion program to help low-income households across the U.S. pay their heating and cooling bills.

This is what competitive authoritarianism looks like. "giving political appointees a direct line to tax investigations for the first time since Richard M. Nixon was president."

Tough language from JPMorgan tonight: “.. we view the full implementation of these policies as a substantial macro economic shock not currently incorporated in our forecasts. .. these policies, if sustained, would likely push the US and global economy into recession this year.”

I’m proud that my own Cato Institute is among the groups signing a cross-ideological amicus brief in the Perkins Coie case. Our country’s liberty is in dire peril if a would-be strongman can destroy a law firm for having stood up to him personally or the federal government he heads.

None of the top 10 Big Law firms have committed to signing an amicus brief in support of Perkins Coie. As Ben Wittes writes in his column for Lawfare today: “[A] very happy Liberation Day to all the law firms that have liberated themselves from their dignity.” www.nytimes.com/2025/04/02/b...

Notable that this is an oped in the Washington Post

And history will repeat itself unless Republicans join us and stand up to these across the board tariffs.

The purpose of these tariffs is to be able to lift them to those who bow down to him and sacrifice their dignity. That is what he did to the GOP, the billionaires, and is doing now to Big Law. Those who stand up will be punished, those who bend a knee and humiliate themselves will be rewarded.

Trump says the crash is “to be expected” because he “inherited a terrible economy” Reality: The Economist called 🇺🇸’s economy “the envy of the world” as Biden’s term ended 👇🏽 His trade war is to blame

"My message to the rest of the Democratic Party is if you are not willing to meet that bar, then step aside for somebody who will. Because we're at a moment right now where we do need people who are willing to fight, willing to show some spine, willing to break through in this media environment."

Sen. Tillis (R-N.C.) says he’s inclined to support the Grassley-Cantwell bill. Says he’s heard from constituents worried about the tariffs, esp farmers & restaurant/lodging sectors. Everyone in red states :: call your reps!!

pro tip: if you can afford to blow $250 million on a losing campaign in Wisconsin, you can afford to pay a 90% top tax margin

I have a piece out in the Atlantic on how the Trump administration is using a litigation strategy it learned over Trump 1.0's travel ban -- go fast, ask SCOTUS to go fast so as to obscure the facts. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
