Trying out Miznon, the new pita/mediterranean restaurant at Union Station (got the eggs-no-steak pita sandwich 🥙 😋)

I ABSOLUTELY adore having this view every day while commuting to work 😊 #toronto #canada

The breadth of the data science field makes it hard to retain everything you’ve learned, since no job uses every tool. To offset this, I’ve found extremely useful to have a daily flashcards practice.

Glad to have gotten back to running today after two weeks of either snow-covered sidewalks or too much cold (or both!) (I think I've settled for-8 as my tolerance threshold)

TIL that if you want to remove the first and last items of a Python array/list you can do this: _ , *middle_nums, _ = nums (Leveraging sequence unpacking) and it just… looks so good? Although the traditional slice approach: nums[1:-1] is still probably more readable #python #datascience

Turned the old blog post of LLM-based tools for #rstats into a Quarto guide. Includes even more packages now plus a roundup of relevant courses and tutorials luisdva.github.io/llmsr-book/

Every data project scope creep starts with: "Just one small addition..." That's how your 2-day dashboard becomes a 2-month enterprise solution. Learn to say: "Happy to help! Let's schedule a quick chat to scope this properly and adjust timelines." Boundaries save careers. #DataScience #Analytics

Today is my first Canada-versary 🎂🥳🇨🇦🍁

Going full Marie Kondo with my files with this OpenAI wrapper for file organization I built with Claude Sonnet. It reads from a .md file that contains the 'official' file system hierarchy and whenever I want to find or save something I just describe the file

January 2025 wallpapers just dropped

New Year's breakfast with some friends 😋🍳🎆

I love reading books written by hosts of podcasts I listen to because I can read them with their own voice in my mind 😆 (it's happening to me now with Deep Work by Cal Newport)

Evening of playing with my timetracking data and tweaking g̶g̶p̶l̶o̶t̶s̶ plotnine plots (periods have cheesy names because they're like the 'Yearly Themes' from @cgpgrey.bsky.social / @myke.social / @cortexbrand.com but just 6 months long, so... half-yearly themes)

Microsoft announced this week that they are opening VScode's Copilot for free. Here is a short explanation of how to set it. Make sure you update to the most recent version first 👇🏼 www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_Ae... #VScode #Copilot

Holliday project: online editor #Quartopub & #Ipynb with your code phobic friends (send them a link they edit & save to GitHub)!

A completely absurd bug I found today in the Apple ecosystem: Shortcuts complications (being able to launch a Shortcut from a Watch face) stopped working on my Apple Watch It turns out the solution is to… toggle the 24-hour time clock!

Using my last days as registered student to try out the VR headset we have in our library 😶‍🌫️

I've been having unreasonable amounts of fun by asking Claude Sonnet to solve code problems and then adding "suggest a chaotic solution that, while not being technically wrong, would make a code reviewer want to quit their job and run to the hills"

My transformation into an Andrew Huberman Bot is now complete

I just can't believe that the economic capital of a G7 country can't have a decent and reliable subway system

First below-zero run in Toronto! 🧊 (trying to maintain the habit of running every day despite the weather)

My pet peeve with collaboration tools is when they don’t make it clear what will happen on other people’s end if you press X button Like, you want to turn on Speaker Coach on Teams, or Pageless view on Google Docs, will that change what other users see ? Will they be notified? Who knows!

The thing that really differentiates Bluesky is that it doesn’t feel like it was designed by a bunch of people who will lose their jobs if I spend a little less time on Bluesky.

3rd day of wearing a continuous glucose monitor and I've already found surprises on what spikes my blood glucose (and also that my fasting BG is on the upper range of what's considered 'normal' 😅)

I joined the Continuous Glucose Monitor crew! I’ll be wearing one for a couple of weeks to learn how different foods affect my blood sugar (and to answer the classical question “does X break my fast?)”

I’m a weirdo who likes to own his music and today I realized with horror that Apple remotely DELETED a song I purchased from the iTunes Store (and that was download to my iPhone ) 🫣🫠😡😡😡

Hi Apple Watch 10 👋🏼😁

Any place can be an office if you really want it, including a McDonalds in Downtown Toronto

Anthropic just published the system prompts of Claude and it's so funny that they have to beg the model not to start every response with "Certainly!" as Copilot does https://docs.anthropic.com/en/release-notes/system-prompts#july-12th-2024

I have these “eras” playlists and it’s WILD that in less than 5 months I’ll have to create another one for “Late 2020s”

This week I discovered that I can make Soylent ice cream 😋 I just added more powder and less water (and cocoa powder for flavour) then froze for 1 days and thwarted overnight
