More arms. Less aid. What a world we live in.

If I have understood properly how democracy works, at this point a US billionaire gets to to choose the government in Germany, no?

Tricky coalition talks ahead in Germany but the starting and finishing point has to be: no neo-Nazis in the government.

I can't claim to be a fan of ice hockey but GO CANADA!!!!!

Just a reminder: it's always about the Glazers. Don't get distracted by details!

'The West' as a political concept died today in Munich.

I think Spurs v United should now be known as the Bunk Derby. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wuF...

I've come the conclusion that the main reason decent people won't leave Twitter is because they are convinced that what they have to say is important.

Is anybody making Gulf of Mexico t-shirts? I want one.

United fans are not well placed to engage in schadenfreude so I am not going to say anything at all about you-know-what. The thing. That happened today.

I didn't see the United game because I don't believe in pirating feeds (I have friends whose livelihood depends on their intellectual property being respected) but it sounds like we got lucky.

Feb 1. Dry January over. We all know what that means. Music videos on YouTube all night 🕺

When I look at that line-up of tech bros at the inauguration I see terrified kids in the school playground handing over their dinner money to the school bully. Not titans of industry.

This outbreak of Nazi salutes reminds me of the episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm where they all start swearing to provide cover for the chef with Tourette's.

I suspect the play-off matches in the Champions League will turn out to be the best bit.

There are people I know. Good people. Intelligent people. Who still use Twitter. In spite of everything. I know, right? I've tried.

Rwanda is supporting rebels who have taken Goma in the DRC. People are being killed. The 'international community' looks on and does nothing. Why?

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, important words from Giorgia Meloni: The Shoah was ‘a plan, conducted by the Hitlerian regime, which in Italy also found the complicity of the fascist regime, through the infamy of the racial laws and the involvement in the roundups and deportations.’

A Complete Unknown is a really good film and the best thing about it is the singing, especially Monica Barbaro.

United are up to 12th and I can't even get drunk! Roll on February.

People are losing their minds about Michael Oliver's red card. I think there is not enough debate about how teams who play the high press systematically use tactical fouling around the opposition box to prevent transitions and then try to argue the ball was not in a 'danger area'.

The US boycotted the 1980 Olympics because of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. If the US annexes Greenland or the Panama Canal, is it time for countries to think about boycotting the 2026 FIFA World Cup?

10 tracks off the White Album to make a killer single album. Go:

It's a time when people are revealing who they really are. Nobody will be able to say: We didn't really know.

United is becoming a graveyard for coaches.

Bournemouth, eh? They can play. And they can put the shoe into the opposition when necessary. Let's hope they and Forest can keep it going into the spring.

Denis the King. RIP

Genesis Cinema, Mile End, Sunday 4pm.

My favourite 3 goals ever are: Bergkamp v NUFC; Maradona's indirect free-kick inside the Juve box; and Best's lob v Spurs. Players who could see things others couldn't, and had the technical ability to deliver. What are your top 3 goals? A Jaffa Cake for the best answer.

Every time I go online I see adverts for hearing aids. I'm only 63 and can hear fine, thanks. What?

If I could order anything to eat from anywhere in the world right now it would be curry, rice and chips with a steak pudding from the Hong Kong chippy on Pemberton Street, in Old Trafford. Perfection.

There's a beautiful series on Sky called Ireland's Wild Islands. If you like that kind of thing.

Regardless of who you support, it's a joy to watch a player like Cole Palmer strolling around like he's in the school playground. A Manc, as well. St. Bede's boy, like me.

People are laughing about Lazio sacking their club falconer but most Premier League clubs don't even have a falconer. SO behind the curve.

When you read about the latest episode of racism in Italian football, and how one of the clubs involved (Brescia) responded, you will be gobsmacked. Incredible. Even for Italian football.

Never in doubt. #onelove #mufc

Who said this? 'These are my principles. If you don't like them...well, I have others'. A. Mark Zuckerberg B. Groucho Marx

Since I became a dog person, seven years ago, I have been part of a little community. Every morning I bump into Kim, Manny, Maia, Jack and the rest of the gang. No idea what the owners are called, of course.

I thought Michael Oliver had a good game today. Let quite a few reducers go uncarded, and Nunez on de Ligt was borderline (nobody at VAR pulled him on the yellow, though). No complaints about the pen.

Good game, fair result. #mufc #onelove

McBride believes “this has been coming for years” because of a decade or more of mismanagement of the club by the Glazers. United were neglected as rivals modernised, embraced modern scouting techniques and tactics and invested in new facilities. (United fan calls it in Guardian vox pop piece).

Why has nobody made a proper in-depth documentary looking at what the Glazers have done to Manchester United, and how much money they have made in the process? Sports documentaries are ubiquitous these days, but this strikes me as one of the major stories in English football.

Glazers out! Don't get distracted by sub-plots like minority shareholders and new coaches. #onelove #mufc
