Blog post: Today in Horrifying dystopia: When I got a new floor lamp, I didn’t expect to bring a surveillance device with facial recognition and mood analysis into my home. This thing has a microphone, knows my WiFi, and asks for a selfie. blog.franklinveaux.com/2025/02/toda...

I think MailChannels has completely lost the plot. Every one of these came through Mailchannels. As a spam and phish filter, they’re worthless—in fact, professional phishers now rely on Mailchannels for delivery. I recommend auto-deleting anything that comes via Mailchannels.

When the people crown a clown, the palace becomes a circus.

Heading to the post office to ship today’s batch of free Resist and Empathy stickers! I have now sent out more than a thousand stickers(!!). I seriously had no idea these would resonate the way they did.

Oh. Oh my. Spotted on Quora this morning. Who wants to tell him about the guy who started the Church of England?

The current Administration answers a question I feel certain nobody was asking: “What if Sauron, but, like, really f*ckin’ dumb?”

My shopping cart software fell over AGAIN. Just got off the phone with my gateway provider, and the cart is back up again. I keep underestimating demand for the stickers. I’m really sorry. 😢 Anyway, it’s working now.

I have a limited quantity of Resist stickers back in stock! I also have a small quantity of the second sticker design, “Commit the Sin of Empathy.” These are 100% free, but I’ve had to limit quantities. I have a thousand more on the way. They’ll go quick! franklinveaux.com/cart/index.p...

Wrote almost 3200 words yesterday, including the weirdest sex scene I’ve ever written (involving the protagonist and a cheap Manchester United souvenir keyring), but I’m still not quite sure where this novel is going. #AmWriting #AmWritingFiction

My uni class in cryptography and infosec continues to pay dividends. Who knew this class would turn out to be so useful in my day-to-day life?

So I’ve scraped together enough to buy a giant large-format 3D resin printer capable of using a super-hard resin, in an effort to solve my problem making xenomorph hiphugger molds that don’t wear out after 2-3 castings, and, um…it’s so big I might need to get rid of my couch.

Okay, but hear me out. What if Hugo Weaving as Sherlock Holmes?

Blog post: Quick update on the Resist stickers: New design on the way, a large order due in, changes to the shopping cart, getting larger quantities, and more! blog.franklinveaux.com/2025/02/upda...

Just learned today is the Super Duper Bowl or something. So, in the interests of Team Spirit: Go preferred team! Defeat the opposing team! Perform skilled acts!

I am overwhelmed with gratitude at the kindness I’ve received over the past day, and the enthusiasm for the Resist stickers. I’m on my way to the post office to send out the first set. If you didn’t get a confirmation email, it’s because outgoing emails are still blocked.

So. Um…last night’s misadventure with the Resist stickers on my site has been illuminating. I’ll make the software more robust before the next batch, but also, my cart generated so much traffic in two hours that my mail server is now listed as a spam source by MailChannels.

Wow. Um, I didn’t expect that to happen. It took two hours for my entire first production run of Resist stickers to disappear. To anyone else trying to get one, I’m really, really sorry. I’ve ordered more. It usually takes about two weeks for them to be produced.

I know a lot of us are feeling pretty hopeless right now. I’ve just received the first run of stickers I’ve designed to remind us to keep our heads up. I’m giving them away free on my web site. More designs are coming in the next few weeks. Want one? franklinveaux.com/cart/index.p...

Woke up this morning and the first thing I saw on the Internet was some rando saying “the Big Bang theory says the universe came from nothing” so I made a thing. When you see a statement on this card, you know you can discard whatever else that person says.

Holy fuck, Temu is like a needy and slightly psycho date you went out with one time who freaked out after you took six hours to reply to them in FB Messenger. I placed one order two months ago for about $22 and…

Portland, I am back once more in your damp and clammy embrace, after an absolutely lovely couple of weeks with some absolutely lovely people.

Only just barely made my connection in Denver by a cat’s whisker, but man, the flight here was gorgeous.

My flight out of Springfield was delayed several hours, so they put me on a different flight that’ll actually get me into Portland sooner than I was scheduled. It’s such a wee small thing!

My Talespinner’s cat seems not to want me to go. (It’s a fair cop, I’m not thrilled about it myself!)

My entire life, I’ve been plagued by allergies and hay fever. About five years ago, I finally found an OTC antihistamine (levociterizine) that works for me, and I’ve taken it daily since. Huge quality of life improvement. In the past few weeks I’ve developed an allergy to it. 😭

Packing to head back to Portland! I’m almost (almost!) sad my airline credit card lets me check my bags for free. I’d love to see what TSA makes of the goat milker machine. (And by “love” I mean that other thing.)

Noted without comment: Damage.

Anyone else remember the old Amiga Mod music scene? There was a weird little artistic subculture that appeared, thrived, and then vanished so quickly most people weren’t even aware of it.

Traditional post-kinky-group-sex Sonic run, and also Walmart for some…err, crafting…supplies. Yes, that’s it. Crafting supplies.

Was due to run a tabletop role-playing game tonight, but two of our players are sick, so I guess it’s on to Plan B: kinky group sex.

How am I to work in conditions like this?

My Talespinner’s cat being devastatingly cute.
