once again I must tap my own sign

America is now a tinpot kleptocracy run by a fascist imbecile. The nonpartisan stewards of our norms and institutions are in denial. None would hesitate to call a leader from the Global South illegally taking a plane from the Qataris a corrupt exchange. But here? We need different language.

so you're telling me the NY Times has no problem actively harming trans people but the moment the paper needs to call out Trump as corrupt they resort to whoa whoa that's not how he self-identifies

I think about this @alexkrokus.bsky.social a lot

Don't trust "AI" and also realize that the push to have "AI" in everything happened because some tech people wanted to get rich and other tech people didn't want others to get rich without them, and now they've all spent too much money on a bad product and are trying to scramble out of the hole.

The touchstone of most authoritarian regimes is not the kind of total control that most people feel in their day-to-day lives. It is that the regime is only selectively bound by law, producing constant low-grade anxiety as to whether, how, or against whom power will be exercised.
