Today’s Texas School Board Race of the Day is in Humble ISD, which is home to the BLT Guide’s Worst Candidate of 2025. (That’s saying something!) That candidate is Tracy Shannon, running for the Place 4 spot, who claims responsibility for the removal of more than 1000 books from the district.

It’s day 2 of early voting for the May school board elections, and today’s Race of the Day is in Fort Bend ISD. Why does this race matter? There are two spots up for grabs in FBISD, and they will determine the balance of power on the board for the next few years. TL;DR: Vote for Afshi and Angie.

While the whole world is laughing at Lamar CISD for banning lessons on Virginia from its elementary school libraries because the state's flag is too hot, let me point out that HB3225--soon to be voted on in the Tx House--could bring this absurdity to public libraries statewide.
