I think I’ve peaked as an artist and I didn’t even have my glasses on when I drew it

what i said: "come over, my parents aren't home" what i meant age 15: "let's do things our parents won't let us do" age 35: "my pet puked on the couch, the plumbing is leaking, the plants need watering, i haven't made dinner, i'm dying please send help"

Here's a video to show you all just the scale of this unit too!

"The elephant later backed out of the shop still holding a bag of snacks with his trunk." honestly, relatable

"dear future husband,"

A reminder that you CAN just go out and donate money to get a species name for yourself from Scripps, and most importantly they have a glamour shots catalogue of the animals you can get for free perusal

ok look, i might've been a mess but at least my break ups never made headlines on the opposite side of the planet

I think what some people don't get is a LOT of artists and writers have spent more on their craft than they have earned back. At best, some break even, but it is a pretty small percentage that make a profit and a smaller number still who can earn a living wage at it... 1/2

To jump on this (/bad jumping spider joke) I'm an author just starting out my own bug dark fantasy series! It has themes of queerness, political intrigue, and, naturally, losing one's mind to a hivemind fungus. Please consider supporting me: patreon.com/esmeelora ko-fi.com/esmeelora/ #invertefest

A hard truth of science communication is that knowledge and attitudes (to say nothing of behavior) are not intrinsically linked. A panel from my 2017 comic on the intersection of science and religion, free to read: jordancollver.myportfolio.com/comics #sciart

It’s Pride and a good time for some summer reads. If you find yourself fancying some queer natural history and haven’t read my books yet, can I get a little action from the back section? 🦕 🌈

Good morning! On this day when the New York Times begins its podcast series on trans healthcare for kids, I wrote an open letter to my science journalism colleagues who work against trans healthcare in the name of our shared profession: galileospendulum.org/2025/06/05/o... Please read and share.

Personal fav epibiont: a species of hydroid common name “snail fur.” I have always been slightly annoyed since it only grows on shells being used by a hermit crab. Good news is I just learned the editors of this Wikipedia page have verbed “hermit-crab.” en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydract...

I'd been struggling with a messed up sleep pattern in the past month. This morning I forced myself to wake up at a reasonable hour, opened steam to stay awake, and Kabuto Park fixed me. get your bug now store.steampowered.com/app/3376990/...

A wandering spider, from when the Jurassic had just begun. You can find Early Jurassic sandstone used all over SLC, rock that was once part of a vast, dune-filled desert around 200 million years ago. When critters skittered up damp dunes, they left traces. The best match for these is spider. 🧪
