February 28th is WRATH OF KHAN DAY in our house. The rules are simple: at some point today, watch Wrath Of Khan! Feel free to join in, and don’t forget to bring your tissues for that scene you know I’m talking about 🖖🏻

It's time for another dose of creative wisdom as we prove, once again, there is no such thing as a stupid question. This time, @davidgreenwriter.bsky.social joins us to talk book covers - how to source them, design them and, most importantly how to make them more budget friendly.

Does anyone know any good places to submit general flash fiction to? I’ve finished a <1,500 word story that isn’t SFF, but I’ve got nowhere to send it!

Been working on some edits for another WIP today. Two more chapters left to do, and that’s another book ready for a final beta reading pass. This is the joy of working on multiple things at once — when they all finish together!

First draft of the latest WIP is with my alpha reader. Here goes nothing! ☺️

Been radio silent the past couple of days because I’ve been FINISHING A WIP!!! ☺️ It’s a collab with the fantastic indie author Dawn Ross, and we’re at the first read-through stage. Hopefully, it’ll be ready for betas soon. Very glad that I can finally emerge from my writing hole 😂

For the first time ever, my books are available in a REAL LIFE BOOKSHOP!!! If you’re in Shrewsbury, pop in to Welsh Bridge Books And Collectables and you’ll be able to pick up signed copies of NEW YESTERDAY and TIME’S ELLIPSE!!!!!

It's new video day! Join us for more chat with @davidgreenwriter.bsky.social. We roll for insight and talk dragon therapy, getting groovy and why David might show up on your doorstep with a box of books. Plus, @frasierarmitage.bsky.social uses the phrase 'Skibidi Rizz' https://buff.ly/42Yb47T

It's a busy weekend for Spotlight Indie! Some exciting plans made this afternoon as we called into see our wonderful friends at NERDY Cafe, Shrewsbury. As you can see, @frasierarmitage.bsky.social has made himself right at home! Very exciting to see some indie author books out in the wild as well!

"Rememory" was a highlight in this collection, I absolutely loved it. ❤️

If you’ve not read A STITCH BETWEEN WORLDS and are wondering what to vote for in the BSFA Awards, you can listen to an excerpt from the first story (REMEMORY) being read by the one and only @emilyinkpen.bsky.social Scroll down this page to find and play the audio: frasierarmitage.com/books/stitch/

Bradbury the narwhal CANNOT WAIT to get started on CITY OF ALL SEASONS by Aliya Whiteley and @oliverklangmead.bsky.social This is one of my most anticipated books of the year and I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be very special indeed. Huge thanks to @titanbooks.bsky.social for sending an ARC

Did you also know that @frasierarmitage.bsky.social & I had the downright ✨delightful✨ opportunity to chat with @taranhunt.bsky.social about #TheUnkillablePrincess, that’ll be out TOMORROW!? If you didn’t, go listen to our chat & see how fast you’ll want to get it! www.youtube.com/live/WCqPV8v...

Can you tell Frasier caught me on a day when my edits felt Too Much? 😂 But also I got to dig into the whole 'quiet stories' thing, plot structures & why Ghosts ain't a thriller sorry. Which was immense fun, thank you @frasierarmitage.bsky.social 🤗🥰

🚨VIDEO CHAT🚨 Getting to talk to @rainewilson.bsky.social about WE ARE ALL GHOSTS IN THE FOREST was so cool. I love the book so much, and geeking out with Raine is always fun! We chatted about her style, her stories, and most importantly, her cat. Check it out👇🏻 youtu.be/dzezGWDlhzU?...

Huge THANK YOU to @emilyinkpen.bsky.social for putting together this graphic for my smol collection! It’s such an honour to be longlisted for a BSFA award. And a gigantic thank you to everyone who votes 💛 I still can’t believe it got this far! ☺️

I’ve only just realised that I’m longlisted for a BSFA award for “best collection”!!! I’m so grateful and honoured that A STITCH BETWEEN WORLDS made the longlist! Huge thanks to everyone who helped get it there The full list of nominees is here: www.bsfa.co.uk/bsfa-awards-...

Why do I always feel like I have to be in an epic mood to write a climax? I’ve been gearing myself up to attack the end of this WIP, but I feel like I need to level up my brain’s awesomeness before it’ll let me begin 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

The hardest bit of explaining what’s going on in Toy Story 2 to my little one is the scene where Al uses a fax machine

Catching up with author friends is like drinking shots of happy juice. I love it ☺️

Absolutely delighted to see A STITCH BETWEEN WORLDS shortlisted for the FFA Awards. If you’ve read it and want to vote, that would be amazing. But just seeing it in such epic company feels like a win in itself.

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about how, when I started writing, I was trying to get traditionally published because I needed validation from other people. It was like I needed the approval of others. But… (1/3)

“A PALACE NEAR THE WIND by @aijiang.bsky.social is like a tree. It’s quiet, but powerful. It’s beautifully rendered, but it also reaches deep below the surface and the seeds it plants will grow in your heart.” Thanks @baharkutluk.bsky.social for an ARC! Currently listening, and I can confirm that the first episodes of WASTELAND are absolutely amazing. It’s so cool to hear the outrageously talented @marieclairewood.bsky.social leading this audio drama set in the universe of The Dex Legacy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's here! The brilliant cover for TRIGGERNOMETRY FINALS, the third instalment in the Triggernometry series, by the ever-talented Philip Harris. Can't wait for you all to meet this new set of mathmos... www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...

🚨COVER REVEAL🚨 Check out the amazing cover for TRIGGERNOMETRY FINALS by the legend that is @starkholborn.bsky.social ! It’s the concluding book in the Triggernometry Series and it’s every bit as gorgeous as the first two in the set. Find out more here 👇🏻 fanfiaddict.com/cover-reveal...

I was supposed to be on this TBRCon panel later today with these AMAZING authors, but the flu has hit me at the worst time, so I’m not going to make it. I’ll be listening in from a dark room between sips of hot lemon. Definitely check it out because it’s gonna be beyond epic

I’ve watched the animated Sleeping Beauty 100,000 times. But today I spotted for the 1st time that the good fairies produce Mickey Mouse shaped biscuits when they’re discussing Aurora! Is Mickey a product of their magic? Could Mickey have taken down Maleficent? What does it all meeeeeean!!!

Spent the past few days ticking items off the bucket list Sat in the cockpit of an aeroplane ✅ Went to Disneyland ✅ Fistbumped Darth Vader ✅ Now I’ve got to think of three more things to add to the list! The last thing I wanna do is run out. Any suggestions?

After all these years, I’ve finally figured out why writing feels so much like magic. Because when I write, it makes time disappear.
