Hey if anyone is considering backing up any datasets for some reason today, the Open Science Framework has free storage up to 5G/private repository, and up to 50G/public repository. (The OSF is run by a 501c3 (Center for Open Science), so if you do this you might also consider making a donation.)

The most common question I receive is how everyday citizens can help in the fight for democracy. My advice, take the first step, start with something small and see what works for you. Here are ten things all of us can do. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/10-t...

Its easy to get sucked into the political discourse here. I've resorted to adding all kinds of science feeds to help me fend off the insanity we hope will cease in 2028

Notably, L. portucalensis F11 has the ability to degrade both per-fluorinated and poly-fluorinated compounds: up to 96 % of spiked PFOS after a 194-day incubation, and 58 % of spiked 5:3 FTCA and 21 % of spiked 6:2 FTS

To date, L. portucalensis strain F11 is one of the few isolated microorganisms that has been reported to degrade PFAS successfully, as evidenced in the biodegradation of PFOS, 6:2 FTS, and 5:3 FTCA into shorter-chain compounds and production of fluoride ions in the culture media.

🦠💧 Bacteria vs 'Forever Chemicals' Scientists have found a type of bacteria that can slowly break down harmful PFAS chemicals This could help clean up polluted water and other environments. 🔗 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... #Environment #Pollution #SciComm 🧪
