Fine Tooth Comb. Someone's been listening to Doug Ford speeches.

The juice factory I worked at in early 2000 is in the news today.

Movies I watched in 2025. #2 Blow Out - 1981 Go back to a time when people smoked in hospitals, and soft core porn slasher movies were all the rage. A paranoid thriller that leaves you feeling icky afterwards. A movie that understands that sometimes less is more. #moviesky

Movies I watched in 2025. #1 - Deep Cover - 1992 Larry Fishburne goes undercover to take down a drug ring. Jeff Goldblum being a complete sleazeball. Sums up the war on drugs in under 2 hours? Yes. Just an incredibly good looking movie. They don't make stuff like this anymore.

Van Gogh really was the goat.

Describing weather that you're not accustomed to is a challenge. This is from a short story I just finished reading. 12F or -11c is cold, but not cold enough that people who are used to winter would describe it this way. The author lives in Kentucky so it makes sense. #booksky 💙📚

It's thanksgiving week in the US, so let's discuss a book set on that holiday, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. It was published in 2012, but is about a time that seems a lot further in the past. 💙📚 #booksky

I know voicing my displeasure at things happening in the world will have the same effect as me telling the tide to stop from rolling onto the beach. But I'm proud that I'll be on the right side of history. That is my only consolation for this complete feeling of helplessness.

Good Morning #booksky. Who is your favourite unreliable narrator in a book that you have read? 💙📚

Today's book is How Lucky by Will Leitch. Nominated in 2022 for an Edgar Award for best novel, it's a mystery that leans more toward cozy than overly gritty, without feeling saccharine. A lot of modern mysteries/thrillers feel like 1 long cliche checklist but this isn't one of them. #booksky 💙📚

I saw that there is a new tv show out with the same name, so let's talk about Frederick Forsyth's 1971 thriller The Day of the Jackal. (Check out this incredible cover below from online specialty bookseller The Folio Society.) #booksky 💙📚

Last year at this time I was in Cuba, so today let's talk about Graham Greene's 1958 novel, Our Man in Havana. 💙📚

The Booker Prize is being awarded tomorrow. Have you read any of the 6 book on the shortlist? I think I will read "James" when I get a chance. 💙📚

Pine Street = Valour Road.🫡 If you are of a certain age you'll remember the Heritage Minutes and seeing it's Remembrance Day let's revisit the heroes of Pine Street, Winnipeg. youtu.be/Tao7ma4jxUQ?...
