In 2011 Alabama passed HB 56, a "deport yourself" immigration bill designed to get "illegals" to leave. I sued, as the US Atty in Bham. We succeeded but by then, there was no one to pick the tomato crop, long delays to build or repair a home, etc. No one thought about the cost of hate in advance.
