I used to paint a lot of these guys. the sketch was 2008, and the others 2011 - 2014 i think. I called them "War Angels" and they were kind of a Tyrael divergent design, blending Roman/Corinthian style armor with wings that were actually flames of fire but structured like large bird wings still

an image from 2015 I made for Lux Caeli. I believe it was a concept of the planet that Refuge takes place on, a desert-like planet with oases of lush foliage. (I had a hard time believing Kharak was completely desert...but that's the main planetary inspiration for Lux IV ;) )
