“poetry / isn’t revolution but a way of knowing / why it must come” – Adrienne Rich, Dreamwood

If you are tired from fighting heartless bullshit, I love you

i appreciate anyone who's trying in 2025

I know it's often a tall order but, if you can, try to get yourself some solitude. Practice being free in your own mind.

“Once it would have been a year’s worth of news. But news right now is like a flock of speeded-up sheep running off the side of a cliff.” -Ali Smith / Autumn

You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. —Louise Erdrich

Stay tender somehow a valentine from me and @dinalrelles.bsky.social

Dear artists: Afraid of death? It’s coming anyway. Afraid of failure? We all fail. A lot. Sometimes spectacularly. Afraid of these fascists? There are more of us cheering you on. Don’t stop creating. Not now. Make art. Piss them off. Create. With anger. With hope. Keep going.

Anywho, we're only limited by our imaginations re: how we can connect and support each other in our communities.

Happy birthday, @kateschapira.bsky.social - hope you find time to rest and recharge today!

love is when the smallest poem flickers in an open mouth. —Ina Cariño, from "Maybe a Ghost Carried Me Here"

Exercise for you: If you can move at all, make yr hands into a cup. (If not, envision this.) With your mind's senses, feel water bubble up in the cup and flow over yr hands. You didn't make the water; it doesn't belong to you; it flows through you & is inexhaustible. When ready, open your hands.

open up your heart and let the bird in your heart is now a bird nest, too bad it's your (ir)regularly scheduled bird break (photo by me)

continue to make things, continue to learn things, continue to share knowledge, continue to share mystery, continue to share being

hold up wait a sec whatever you were doing, just ease off the throttle for a minute and slow down so you look at this bird in today's BIRD BREAK (photo by me)

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

What’s next? February???

Grief is unpredictable and non-linear. The stress of our current political nightmare can really activate it. If you’re in pain, please be gentle with yourself. Yes, I am subtweeting my own unruly emotions.

A morning boost for my friends in Mass. No idea if this bill has a real shot of passing, but it will have a much better one if you call your reps. Remember Mass has lead the way on healthcare reform before. We can do it again.
