IMO it's a mistake to take the ideological conflict seriously. "Xrisk" and "acceleration" are flip sides of a single drama, which is "we're going to build something so cool it's dangerous." The actual conflict here seems to be how much OAI should become a retail tech co, versus a B2B think tank.
