Happy #IWD! In Italy, we gift mimosa flowers to women today. But why? The flower was chosen as a symbol by antifascist Rita Montagnana and Teresa Mattei, because it was the same flower partisan fighters gifted to the "staffette" - the women who delivered messages for the Resistance. A 🧵 about them!

I'm fine 99.9% of the times then there are days like this one where my knees flare up with pain for no damn reason at all and it hurts so much I can barely walk

Absolutely devastating situation in which I should outline the plot of my next Serious Writing Project but all I can think about is my rpg blorbo's backstory

These days, in Italy, we celebrate Carnevale! The streets are flooded with colorful floats, people wearing all sort of costumes, and kids eating frittelle and chiacchiere. So here's a thread exploring the ancient roots of this heartfelt festivity, and some of its most interesting traditions 🧵

As well as a journalist and mission leader of NGO, "Mediterranea Saving Humans", operating to save migrants at sea, the chaplain of the same NGO also had his phone tapped by Italian Secret Services in February 2024, using the spyware Graphite produced by Israeli company Paragon.

I made this for @moringon.bsky.social for her orc LARP group but it sure does speak for the entirety of orc LARP! #germanlarp #fckafd

Post four perfect albums, 10/10, no notes:

Since Oct 7, many guilt ridden Westerners ignored Gaza by playing bothsidism, claiming a “War between Hamas & Israel”. You saw all Gazans as “potential recruits” & fair targets. Now this’s become naked ethnic cleansing. If you ignore it, you ignore your own humanity. www.reuters.com/world/middle...

The Italian Peninsula before the rise of Rome was a tapestry of diverse ethnic groups, each with unique languages, customs, and material cultures. Among them, the Picenes, who thrived along the Middle Adriatic coast from the 9th to 3rd centuries BCE, have remained an enigmatic presence ...
