Sure you're weedy, and kinda shy, but some girly out there must be needy for a weedy shy guy. Toronto. He/Him.

Taking a bullet train to Osaka. This is like going from Toronto to Montreal, but in 2 hours instead of 6-7 — or even more if there is a freight train in front of via train for some reason in the year or our lord 2025.

Total aside: this fine & beautiful unique building, won a GG medal in 1982, will be torn down soon rather than renovated & updated. A Toronto failure.

300 people in a small Michigan town formed a book brigade to move books to a local bookstore’s new location from its old one. The move took ~2 hours and “the brigade even put the books back on the shelves in alphabetical order.” [theguardian.com]

Let’s try blogging on Flickr. flic.kr/s/aHBqjC9dbZ

Lots of queues to escape Narita. Easy all the same. We didn’t reserve our seats when we bought Narita Express tickets to Tokyo. The old Japanese lady at the ticket gate was all “let’s do it!” and *ran* with me back to the to reserve our seats. This is one reason Japan is the best.

Peoples: what if I am too hyped for Fantastic Four?

Stephen Park, talking about how even after his breakout role in Fargo, he still had to witness dehumanizing anti-Asian racism on the set of Friends, which led him to writing a galvanizing open letter to Hollywood in 1997: youtu.be/KiwQu72VLsU

Remember moblogging? Remember the year 2008? Me too.

“To a very sad degree, Supreme Court justices and members of Congress are already complicit in this experiment in state terror.”

If you scroll past the intro about RPG books and printing, this post is a pretty great deep dive into what’s up with tariffs.

The Nuremberg Trials would’ve been a lot easier if Nazis had taken selfies at their camps

Big “First they came for one hairdresser and I did not speak out because I was House Democrat” energy here.

We asked that question Sept 20, 2023. What if therme goes bankrupt? spacing.ca/toronto/2023...

Wild @nytimes.com story about the Therme deal at Ontario Place. The company claimed it operated multiple spas while only operting one (and it was losing money), heavily implied they owned spas they didn’t own, and took their name & logo from another company. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/16/w...

This whole story is absolutely bananas.

In 2016 I predicted my own death - and I sign on to giving you all permission to politicize my death. (I was then a Living columnist writing about dying)

With her party dropping in the polls, the NDP's Bhutila Karpoche is trying to swim against the current in Toronto’s west end. Dhriti Gupta on the race in Taiaiako'n–Parkdale–High Park. thelocal.to/taiaiakon-pa...

"What was done to Mahmoud [Khalil] goes well beyond whether you agree with the cause of Palestinian liberation. Where exactly are we in the poem that begins, 'When they came for the communists, I did not speak out?'... It's not a very long poem. So how far down the list do you think you are?"

If you're in Davenport you should be voting for Sandra Sousa. I can't handle another however many years with the total muppet we have now.

Love Elections Canada. You can vote super early, and it’s super fast.

Question: Why is McMichael gallery worth repairing but the science centre is not? Answer: Politics. 1/3

Haven’t played Chrononauts in over 15 years I bet. Still great.

A group of 31 rich men took out a full page ad in the @theglobeandmail.com this morning, Canada-washing their support for Poilievre & the Conservatives, to get lower taxes & other policies that will make them richer. 31 men. No women. The Sausage Party of Canada.

Vision Zero vandalism? Pedestrians should carry bricks.

Delighted that @thewalrus.ca has a preview of Story of Your Mother in the June issue 💜 thewalrus.ca/the-secret-l...

A few photos from university yesterday around 2pm. Nothing new just example of world class lanes (you can pass! Landscaping! Fits an ambulance!) & usual traffic, only stopped for lights. Ripping this out is Ford virtue signalling but zero logic & loads of $💸🔥. Trumpian.

New in PN: Yes, they voted for this "Perhaps the most damning commentary about the US electorate and media is that Trump never even tried to conceal his malicious intentions and deranged policy positions."

TTC upper mgmt should be embarrassed but they'll just be irritated and huff they do a great job already. There is a whole army of good people waiting in the wings at the TTC that need to be unleashed. Clear up the upper level. Interim guy needs to go, not be made permanent.

The NYT is such an easy newspaper to hate.

Barbecue Sauce.

A big update for the KO-II. They added song mode and resampling. Now I can become a super-star.

here's a cognitive dissonance that is burning me out: - LLMs are magic pixie dust, this shit was sci-fi just a few years ago, would love to use them more productively - If they were that earth shatteringly useful you wouldn't have to *force* your employees to use them

So from my uniquely weird perspective after living in the UK through Brexit, being in India during Modi's demonetization, and living in Brazil when the real tanked during the Bolsonaro administration, I can confidentally say that Americans do not and can not understand how bad this is going to be.

my hope is that AI can empower the Dumbest, Least talented slobs i know to replace everything i ever loved with One Million Years of Content

An interesting project: decentralised git repository hosting, but with some of the collaboration benefits you see with GitHub, built on top of AT Protocol (Bluesky).

America’s Future Is Hungary. “MAGA conservatives love Viktor Orbán. But he’s left his country corrupt, stagnant, and impoverished.” [kottke.org]

Conservatives this morning are scrambling to remind each other that capsizing the global economy will all be worth it if it means women can’t make cute internet videos at work anymore. www.garbageday.email/p/crashing-t...

Check out at @ttcriders.bsky.social campaign for full active transit signal priority for Line 5 Eglinton and Line 6 Finch West. When they open, the LRVS will be held at red lights so five cars can make left turns. We need proper transit priority to keep our city moving! nwmd.social/s/copylink/6...
