While not everything we could've hoped for in a pope, he definitely wasn't everything we could've dreaded. Rest in peace, #PopeFrancis. While I don't always love my name, your humility and compassion will give me some pride, as did the saint himself.

Does anyone work with #escriptorium for #earlymodern or #medieval #transcription projects? I had a hard time setting it up, but I finally managed to get a transcription model and I think I'm finally able to train it. I'm curious what successes or failures others have had 🤔 #digitalhumanities

Sometimes self-care is just closing all the freakin' tabs. #academicsky

"I'm trying to think, but nothing happens." Sometimes words reach out across time and just apply so perfectly to your current situation. This April/May stretch isn't about surviving until summer but making sure I don't sound like Curly. #academicsky #teachers www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlej...

Sharing this with any others on #academicsky struggle with this. It's something I'm actively working on youtube.com/shorts/Z0YMG...

My new book embosser. The coonhound references my upbringing, the dogs I had & my first real read "Where the Red Fern Grows." Sometimes intellectually I feel like I follow smell the wrong trail, but it references my curiosity for learning. I used my nickname because it's what feels like me. #books

Cleofás telling those in the academy to stop using just "8 or 10 words" to describe everything so that God is the only one to understand them blahaha 😂😆😂 *cough* heuristic*cough* (finishing up Diablo Cojuelo) #academicsky #earlymodern #spain

So, in Tranco IV of "El Diablo Cojuelo," the necromancer-astrologer enclosed the demon "mozo de retrete" ( #Satan 's toilet boy) in a topaz ring. Now I'm wondering if anyone has any insights on #medieval or #earlymodern #magic beliefs? Anything about placing #demons inside flasks or jewelry?

Spring break just means now I can read the other stuff I need to read but isn't supposed to be read two days from now. Today's dive into the image of the #Devil in literature is El Diablo Cojuelo, Guevara's 1641 novel that takes us on a tour of the sins of Madrid. #earlymodern #academicsky

I got a new toy...I mean research tool. So this question is for #academicsky and maybe #digitalhumanities people. Any idea how to get #remarkable annotations to show up on @zotero.org as such? I'd like to create notes from them, but it only seems to save the image. I'm struggling! Theeenks, friends

I always love to visit Special Collections @rareuva.bsky.social here at UVA. When was the last time you got to touch a priceless piece of human history? #books #academicsky #earlymodern

A constituent asks Senator Roger Marshall (R, Kansas) why DOGE is firing so many veterans and the man just runs away. I’ve seen some pathetic behavior in my life but this might get first prize.

Picked up a secondhand bookshelf so the dining room table can go back to being a dining room table 😅 my old bookshelf couldn't handle grad school alone #academicsky

Alrighty, best collections of digitized -German- illuminated manuscripts (in any language)? MDZ surprisingly light on illumination. Manuscriptorium also.

The "hidden curriculum" is such a tough gauntlet to navigate at times (also a good book!). What helps me is having kind, patient people who help me when I'm ignorant of certain things. My friend @wepm.bsky.social has been a great help in this. Check out her talk on Feb 28! #academicsky

Not once, but twice, have I been nudged about overthinking things this past week to the expense of productivity. Do I really overthink things? What should I do about this? #academicsky
