Unfortunately, it's Monday, but at least that means I have a new episode of @strictscrutiny.bsky.social to listen to!

They do suck water tho, lots of it.

This just in- the Constitution actually creates a *third* branch of government. Apparently, the problem of the executive defying orders from the judiciary is to be taken care of by something called "Congress," which is empowered to remove the executive from office, and change the laws being abused.

Fun fact! According to the Constitution, you* and I have exactly the same amount of power to create tariffs as the president- which is to say, none. *Unless you, the person reading this, are a member of congress. In that case, you've got the power of the purse, and should go exercise it.

"Never hurt anyone"... from the guy whose company policy was to send injured workers to the hospital in a lyft instead of an ambulance. This is old news, but it's worth remembering revealnews.org/blog/a-users...

Yes and- until someone has been tried and found guilty in court, they are innocent. That's what it means to be innocent until proven guilty. These statements just declaring people to be criminals are not just maybe wrong- they're legaly false. If they haven't been tried, they aren't criminals.

You know you're doing bad at your job when a cardboard cutout of yourself could do better. In other news, @schumer.senate.gov and @fetterman.senate.gov are planning to side with Republicans and vote *for* the absurdly irresponsible continuing resolution from the House

Fun fact for senate Democrats: if a bill is deeply flawed, you can prevent it from becoming law by voting AGAINST it! Many senators don't seem to be aware of this fact, so please call yours and make sure they know.

I'm becoming increasingly convinced that some of them haven't actually read the Constitution

Fun fact: justice Sam Alito loves drinking poop water!

The chicken's undercooked "Well, I'm working on it- it'll get more cooked in the future!" Yeah, but right now, it's raw "You're just anti-chicken." I just... think it should at least be fully cooked before we eat it? "The chicken is here, and you must have it!!!" (This is a post about AI)

Democracy dies in darkness, and WaPo is helping turn the lights off.

Suppose you had to spend a dollar every SECOND. The week's groceries? A drop in the bucket for you. Save up for a month and buy a jet, maybe, and several houses after a year. Out of stuff to buy? Too bad- you gotta keep spending for 31 YEARS. Congrats- you've spent a billion dollars.

A guest on @wamu.org.web.brid.gy 's The 1A yesterday claims voters might not feel the effects of authoritarianism for a while. Easy to say if you are cis, male, and financially well-off. Other members of our communities are feeling the effects already, in profound ways. 1A, I expect better!

TIL that Google Assistant is by default "learning" from all the apps on your phone. Instructions to disable it in the link. You have to do it for each individual app, and after you do it it takes you back to the top of the list of apps. Classic dark pattern programming. kind.social/@EnfysBook/1...

Multiple aviation disasters these past couple weeks... I'm sure putting the exploding rockets guy in charge will help

Wish I knew somebody who was in one of the two halls of Congress right now.

Hey @piratelawyer.com, legal question for ya: When someone possesses or controls someone else's property without permission, that's conversion, right? Would that describe Elon & co obstructing the disbursement of congressionally allocated funding, and if so, who would have standing to sue?

Is someone going to tell them they can act on those concerns and vote against his confirmation?

If I were to access treasury banking systems and screw around with my neighbor's medicare payments, without any clearance or authority to do so, I would probably end up behind bars. Would my elected representatives care to explain why the richest man in America gets a pass?
