With all the new changes in this country, I have been wearing sweatpants every single day. Or as I now call them, "give up on life pants."

First, they said postponed; now the meeting is canceled. That means no flu shots next year. “'It’s a six-month production cycle,' Dr. Offit said. 'So one can only assume that we’re not picking flu strains this year.'" Fundamentally, that's a form of mass murder. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/26/u...

Hey #MathSky, the AMS has built a handy form letter thing where you can email your reps and senators about NSF. I took a few minutes to use it, and I encourage you to do so too - it both sends our message to Washington and lets AMS know we would love it to be more active in defending mathematics!

One of our supporters shared this with us—people are getting creative tonight!

Hi y'all, "inequality" is now a banned word. That takes out at least 90% of grant proposals in math. And that's before we even get to broader impacts.

We got a message from the university to remove any use of the "DEI", "diversity", "equity", or "inclusion" from all public-facing documents. They said that even "biodiversity" is being flagged by the federal government. We live in the dumbest timeline.

I'm struggling with this so much. Set theory is the foundation of proof based #mathematis. It's based on set membership, set inclusion and exclusion -inclusion. That's basic mathematics. All proof based mathematics is based on it it's the first math course that's all we all take. #mathsky #mathchat
