Straight species Foxglove Beardtongue, Penstemon digitalis, is in bloom in the patio garden bed. This is the last of four Penstemon varieties to bloom in my garden.

I garden in a place with a lot of deer around all the time. Everything outside the fence is fair game. I still plant peppers in the front yard every year. I always end up with a good harvest in the end, even with early nibbles. Peppers, phlox, and viola are shown here with nibbles. 🌱 #gardening

The reports are usually the same: bees, butterflies, or other insects littering the ground. Many dead, some twitching and falling over. Pesticide poisoning in insects IS preventable. Bee Butts and Bee Tongues! Eastern Bumble Bee on Penstemon digitalis var. Mystica. The straight species P. digitalis isn't blooming yet. Very few bumble bees this year compared to previous years. A few years ago these plants were full of bees. Yesterday there were only two. #bugsky #nativeplants

The French Tarragon in the photo on the right yielded almost a cup of dried French Tarragon. This is the first spring cutting from two plants. Don't sleep on perennial herbs. They're the best economic value in your food garden. Plant once, harvest forever. 🌱 #vegetablegardening #organic-gardening
